on the Cuban Revolution for The Lady's Got Potential, my alternate history novel (where, as I've mentioned, the protagonist's Che Guevara except Honduran Garifuna/mestizo, and found some information on Fulgencio Batista, the Cuban president before Fidel Castro, which was surprising (to me). Namely that he was of mixed-race descent.
Now, because the fictional Che is also of mixed-race descent and this is written from his POV, and also because I'm pretty sure that a person's attitudes, the unconscious ones, are influenced in some ways by their culture (race included- however this depends on how your (in the general sense) country views your racial/ethnic origin- would this affect my story in a significant way? (Batista doesn't even appear until much later) ETA: ignore this.
