I need help, so of course I came to the kidlit gang.

A friend is expecting twins in April and I wanted to get a picture book as a gift for the new babies.

My problem is, I'm being too picky, I guess. Scenario is, one child already, a boy, age 6. Twins are both boys also. So I would really love for the book to reflect the same family situation.

But so far I'm having no luck. I found one I really loved titled something like God Gave Us Two, but I'm not sure if that's the exact title. It's about a bear family and the older sibling is talking about when the babies come and what they'll do - pretty standard stuff. But alas, the older sibling is a girl and the twins turn out to be one of each.

Does anyone have any knowledge of these types of books?

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

One of my best friend's is pregnant for the first time -- with twins! I got her a set of Dr. Suess books.

That's a great gift, Smish. My grandbaby (2 now) loves her Dr. Seuss. Every time she stays over we have to read Hop on Pop. When we do the Dad Sad Bad Had page, or however it goes, she watches my face because I frown and drag it all out very dramatically. Papa just doesn't get it, and doesn't play the game right, so she always brings me that particular book.

I'm going to keep looking. I may just have to go with something completely different than a twins book, but I thought it was a fun idea.

The only twins book I can think of is not what you have in mind at all--Loose Tooth by Stephen Kroll. It is pretty cute, though. Maybe when they're six....

The only book featuring twins that I can think of is The Bobbsey Twins by Laura Lee Hope.

It's an old chapter book series. I read them in second grade - I'm over forty. I bought one recently. Kind of outdated, especially in the gender roles being so structured.

Have you tried an Amazon search? I bet some books come up there.

Yes, I've looked on Amazon, but haven't found quite what I'm looking for. In a lot of them the twins are older and I wanted like, new babies and older sibling type.

I'll keep digging.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone.
