Not sure what you mean, but as it's also Black History Month, I'm gonna read some L.A. Banks and some Octavia Butler. That's about as far as my celebratory plans have gone.
Like...film festivals or celebrations, or something.

There's the Stiletto Film Festival in...Boston(?) I think. And I've seen bloggers and stuff doing thematic posts, you know, in the spirit of things, in the past. But I haven't looked this year yet.

ETA: Here, this helps. :D http://www.womeninhorrormonth.com/?page_id=10

Oh, gotcha. I'm doing a blog post, sure, but I don't know what else is going on. The only festival I know of is in Seattle, which sucks because it's on the opposite end of the country from me.

Hang on--I have a writer friend on LiveJournal who helps organize it every year. If anyone knows what's happening, she will.

Women in Horror. Is it just me, or do we have a fair amount of them here?

:p What, like an all-girl horror writer skype session? A flash fiction contest amongst us? A "top female horror novels" thread?

There are a good deal of us, though. And it would be a shame not to mark the month SOME how.

Love it. I would adjust my own accordingly, but let's face it, we'd all get confused.

Unless all us females want to, to deliberately confuse EVERYONE. But that strikes me as slightly evil.

Hmm. It does seem in the spirit. :evil

Besides, it's not like there aren't enough of those my little ponies running around the threads. I can't keep 'em straight. :tongue

We do. Wanna organize something, Bri? :D

I'm up for something. I've been following the Women in Horror site via Facebook. There seems to be a focus on film, which is fine but I was hoping there would be a bit more attention paid to the writing side of things.

Right, I know. If we do something, maybe we can alert them. :D

Now...what to do...

Can I nominate something involving the ex?

Oh, wait, that's Women IN Horror not Women OF Horror, isn't it?

Damn.

(Don't mind me. Just  here over something that popped in email today.)

Horrible women?

What is this thread? Son of Hounding? 2009 or caught in a time-loop? Did someone say something about confusing people...?

Remember, I was here. The whole time. You all saw me.

Yep, you were right here, Bos. I saw you.

Okay. Rhoda is already doing a post, so she'll probably want in on this.

What will we write about? All the same thing? Fiction? Non-fiction? Why we write horror?

I'm all excited now. :D

Yeah, I think we should keep the topic as open as possible. Just needs to connect to women in horror. Personally, I'd be okay if guys were in on it, too, as long as they were writing on the topic.

Yes, absolutely.

ETA: For example - discussing a particular (female) writer or (female-focused) movie or actress or something like that.

I saw a thing on Facebook that the editor of Fangoria was very rude and dismissive about Women In Horror month. I like the idea of bringing guys into the mix to offset the jerkish things that dude was saying.

Love the idea of writing about women in horror in a blogchain, and in including the men, if they're interested. I am so game for that.
