I have an idea for a children's book

That's not exactly true. It's a story I made up for my little boy, over 30 years ago. I think it might make a good child's book but would need some illustration.
Any suggestions?

I;m thinking of it now. It isn't a very long story and won't take much time. I've had it noodlin round in my head all this time but have no idea how to format it. Maybe I should go out n buy some "golden books" to get a clue. I do have the pictures in my head, just aint able to make me fingers cooperate.

Check out some picture books in the bookshop. I think I'm right in saying remember that the publisher will only want the narrative, which by itself should suggest where pictures might go and what they might show.

Believe in yourself! Give it a try. The worst thing that can happen is a rejection......I have several stories that were rejected but my kids still LOVE to read them over & over. (They are 15 to 21 1/2 years old.)

Submit the story only and do not worry about illustrations. The publisher will hire the artist and they normally do NOT want the writer to send in illustrations or choose an illustrator.

Craft the story and start submitting!

You'll never know until you try Putter; and if you don't try you'll always be wondering "what if?".

If it's stuck with you all these years or if it's come up again now, it means something. Go for it and see what happens. If it turns out to only be an adventure in learning what's wrong with that? Life's more fun if we have adventures along the way!
