Hello all!

I found this thread on the NaNoWriMo forums and really liked what I saw here. I've done NaNo 5 years now, and I've won 3 of those years. I've learned that I write best when I have to write the first draft quickly, because then the self-doubt doesn't have time to come creeping back in.

My writing goal for 2012 is to write a million words of fiction, which comes to about 2700 words a day. I've written a little over 84k so far this month over three different stories.

I write mosly lit fic, though I've also written young adult, fantasy, and chick lit. I spent most of my time in my characters' heads, and I'm trying to work on adding a bit more, well, plot to my novels. :)

Welcome.

(My mother and brother live in Atlanta, by the way.)

Quix689, Welcome

So I see you're a NaNoWriMo veteran. Me, too, the last four years. Like you, I like writing a fast first draft. Each day I read what I wrote the day before, edit the easy-to-spot errors, and then continue writing from where I left off.

1,000,000 words this year, huh? That's ambitious. I'll be happy with 100,000, but I want it to be fairly well-scrubbed by the end of the year.

Best wishes with your writing.

Oh, I can't read as I go. I might reread a page so I know where to pick up, but that's it. I try to fix typos as I go, but that's about it. I just make notes about what to fix later and then move on.

This past year I learned just how much I can write when I push myself and actually focus on writing. I'm going to have a lot of editing to do next year, but I think it will be worth it. It helps that I have about 4 months a year without work.

Welcome from another Georgian!
Hope you enjoy your stay here.

My goal for the year is to sell another book after selling two last year. Hope we both meet our goals! :)

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Wow. You work way harder than I do! Took me ten years to get 87k.

What do you do for work?
