I read the FAQ, and I saw where the powers-that-be ask that we not use the "instant notification". Does that mean you don't want us to use it at all or just use it sparingly?

I'd say use it sparingly.

Don't use it on a really fast-moving thread, for instance. There are threads in Office Party or Politics that can easily have more than a hundred posts in an hour.

And if you lose interest, please turn it off.
