Howdy y'all!
I have completed my first Western novel. It's called Wild Violet. All I have to do now is get cracking on editing those 300 pages. Thank y'all for your kind support. I've already started working on my next book, Far West, it's about a girl who reluctantly goes with her family to live on a ranch in Hawaii. What do you think of the title?

Congratulations, Texas Girl. That's an accomplishment. I'm glad you mentioned editing because that's critically important. And remember, if you want some opinions on whether something works or not or reads okay, you can post snippets in western share your work for comments (and you can also let readers know exactly what type of comments you're looking for - help with wording, flow, etc.)

Sounds like you're on a roll. Hat's off to you! Puma

What's the time period of Far West?

And congrats on getting the first of your many future novels done. :)

I was thinking the 1850s. It's still nebulous though. I've only written the first few pages because I'm still working on editing Wild Violet.

1850s you say? That's one of my favorite eras in American history, it has a just-before-the-deluge feel to it, not quite innocent but not decadent either.

I'm grinding away on a frontier tale set in 1819.

Congrats on finishing your first Western!

Congratulations. It is a big accomplishment. Keep 'em coming. We need more westerns.

Sorry I didn't post earlier but got so wrapped up in my own little world I haven't been on here for a while.
