better or worse than his other books so far, do you think?

(I'm on the fence about buying it.)

I'd already read the first two chapters online and liked them so I'm biased but yes, I like it best so far. But that might be because I'm a romance girl (using the term girl loosely considering my real age) and I'm a sucker for flawed/disabled/otherwise impaired MC's.

So, JMHO. You should read the first few chapters to see what you think.
I'll try to repost the link if its still working

He read the first two chapters out loud on the vlogbrothers YouTube channel, too, so you could check that out. He has a great reading voice.

I cancelled my Amazon preorder today and instead preordered from Indigo (Canadian chain bookstore) because I have a better discount there and it would ship faster. I really need it fast because I want to read it before I see John on tour on January 31st :D

My Amazon pre-order is what came today. But if your in Canada, maybe it will be faster the other way. Happy reading! Page 93 right now.

Ooh, I preordered like two days ago but it hasn't shipped yet. Very excited to read this one -- I think I'm either going to love it, or be disappointed on an epic scale.

I preordered as well. Enjoyed very much the first two chapters. I'm awaiting it in my mailbox.

Definitely a lot of hype. I can't imagine being epically disappointed though, Inkspatters.

JG is an immensely talented writer. I was telling my wife last night about TFiOS and the signing madness and various stirrings online Monday. (She is nice enough to listen and act interested.) She said, "It doesn't seem very special if they're all signed." I know what she means, but the signing was really a brilliant marketing tool that helped create an energy and buzz on top of what already exists for a new JG book. It helped him get to No. 1 on Amazon months before his book was even available.

He is an amazing writer, but he really has a wonderful mind for marketing and promotion too, beginning (as far as I know) with the Vlogbrothers on Jan. 1, 2008. He is a quite a force, and worthy of textbook cases for marketing and self-promotion. On top of that he does it wisely. He doesn't JUST say I'm a writer/I sell books. He sells his image. Love the Thoughts from Places vlogs.

I preordered mine a couple of days ago. It should be here by tomorrow.

I have mixed feelings. I adored the first chapter to bits, but I didn't think the second chapter was as great. Whatever. It's done. I hope I like it. Ten dollars is a lot when you're a poor college student.

Amazon shipped mine out today, so it should be here tomorrow or the day after. Usually, if I preorder books from the US or UK I get them on the day they're published. It kind of annoys me that it's taking longer this time.

I'm looking forward to getting my copy, though I don't know when I'll have a chance to read it. I really enjoyed listening to the first chapter, which feels like a good sign for the rest of the book.

My preorder hasn't even shipped yet :( I'm considering getting my dad to pick it up on his way home from work and cancelling the order. Even if I ended up with two copies if it ships before he gets home, whatever, I have a Nerdfighter friend who probably won't buy it for herself. It'll be a late Christmas present.

Got my copy in the mail today!

I'm making myself write at least 2,000 words before I can start it though (aaand I should probably make myself do some coursework too). I'll use anything to bribe myself, honestly... it's effective though.

Looking forward to hearing what you all think about it! John Green's books are always great discussion books.

Just stopped by B&N and got my copy, yay! :D Took me forever to find the display, and for a horrible second I thought they didn't have any. Interestingly, about half of the copies were not signed (...so does this mean TFiOS is already in its second printing?). And of the ones that were signed, all were in green sharpie. My Amazon preorder hasn't arrived yet, so here's to hoping that copy is not in green.

I'm very curious to see the stats on where all the diff. colors were shipped.

What color is everyone else's signature (and did any of you get a hanklerfish/yeti/something else along w/it?)?

Done! Beautiful- amazing. Crying but not sobbing. Smiling too. Now that's brilliant writing.

Got it! My daddy picked it up for me on the way home from work. My sig is in green, muahahaha! Sadly no hanklerfish or yeti though. I'm going to finish reading Zombie Tag tonight and then I'll start it.

so, i preordered on amazon and i just got my copy and it's not signed -_-
the "signed copy" sticker lies!

i mean, i would have gotten the book regardless. but this is kind of lame.

oh well. i'm excited to read it!

edit: and yeah, the reason he gives for the unsigned copies doesn't apply to me. i live in the united states and ordered from amazon us. so i dunno what happened

Mine is stuck in a city twenty minutes from here. It arrived there late, so it didn't get on the right truck today. Yes, I checked and no, I can't pick it up grrrrr... I'm dying here.
