First off, sorry if I posted in the wrong thread. I know some of you are historians, so I was hoping this would be the correct place to post. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

Okay so here we.

This past summer I did an internship at a local historical site. I did about 10 hours a week because I had a paying job and I got off about two hours before they closed. They said they were okay with this.

I have been volunteering for said site for over 4 years now. Along with my internship I've helped with a few events and school programs. For my internship I helped--the curator was very anal and wouldn't really let me get to handle anything--set up their civil war exhibit that opened in July. I was also helping them prepare a slavery exhibit by looking at old newspapers through the microfilm to look at runaway slave adds.

Now I need my letter of recommendation.

I called the curator in October (it might have actually been in September) and he said it wouldn't be a problem. I knew they had events coming up so I told him I would wait.

So I have.

I called in November, left him a message. I didn't get a response.

I sent him an email...again no response.

I sent him a message via facebook. Still no answer.

I am very frusterated and don't know what to do now. I kind of need the letter, but of course I don't want him to get pissed off and write me a bad one.

What should I do now? Should I just let it alone and give up?

Do you know anyone else who is working there now who could go to the curator and remind (prod) the curator in to doing the letter?

By the way, is this historic site in Middle Tennessee? Can you tell me which one (by PM if you don't want to state it publicly). I have some contacts at various organizations.

Thanks alleycat. I'll pm you.

I know the education director and I've talked to her about mentioning it to him. She said she did, but I don't know if she really did or if he just brushed it off.
