I am seriously all over the place. I am writing a histoical novel, a short comtemporary story, a play, and poetry. How many different types of writing do you do?

Just YA fantasy w/ some teenage angst mixed in. Everything but the last one has some sci-fi too.

I write primarily SF, but have written novels in the horror, fantasy, and action adventure genres. I just started a contemporary fantasy which is proving very difficult and scary.

I am a complete pragmatist. I write whatever I get paid to write.

Sorry for being dense, but of which genre did you mean? :D And I forgot to mention that, similar to Sage, my fantasy has angst in there too -- along with some major tragedy. I'm not afraid to throw things at my characters (sometimes literally ;) ).

I write in a variety as well. Short stories, flash, poetry, erotica (short stories and poetry), chick lit... I also dabble in sci-fi and fantasy.

Just one, Thriller. I was all over the place when I couldn't figure out what I was writing and was trying to find a place to fit in. I always gravitated to thriller elements before I found out what it was.

Contemporary novels and poetry. And angry letters to officialdom when people don't do their job properly.

I don't write epic fantasy. I don't write SF these days. I've never written a stage play. I don't write erotica. Beyond this, pretty much everything is fair game.

I've written a lot of different things over the years that I just wanted to try but didn't really intend to continue on with. I've written a teleplay, a few treatments for tv shows, YA novel proposals, poetry, comic scripts, etc. Those are the things I'm pretty sure I'll never try again. Now I mostly write horror/suspense/mystery short stories and thriller novels. I've done a little sf, but not too much. My first novel was a horror/sf cross. I'm probably going to stick with suspense/thriller stuff for the foreseeable future. Someday I'd like to write some screenplays, but not right now.

I write in a lot of different genres...the problem occurs when I try to jam them all into one book, vis a vis my WIP, which at last count was a contemporary-fantasy-mystery-chicklit-adventure story. For some odd reason, this seems to work, but usually it just ends up a horrible mess and I throw my computer across the room and start over.

I usually write pieces with overtones of either fantasy or mystery. I used to write exclusively SF but I got bored, I guess. I also write literary shorts (the English major in me), comic book scripts, horror and if I had the attention span to research anything I'd have a go at historical fiction. But I don't, so that genre is safe from me...for now.

Bwahaha.

I used to dabble in SF, and short stories. I gave myself permission to bag the short stories and write novels, which is what I want to do. And over the course of time, the SF kind of dribbled away, and I find myself currently writing fantasy, pretty much. Or magical realism. Spec fic without the rivets. With mysteries in them. And romances. :)

Fantasy.

I used to be more varied until I realized that the only thing I'm good at, the only thing that really motivates me to write is... Fantasy.

Novels: science fiction, fantasy, realistic fiction, historical fiction

Other: poetry, essays, cool little sayings, books of interesting stuff (like those coffee table books) philosophical essays, and science theories, exploration, ect.

ooh, and screenplays and scripts for live theater and the occasional short story. I write songs every know and then and I plan on maybe doing some physcological thrillers too.

I don't really do romance or mystery . And can some one define horror for me a little. Would a vampire novel be considered horror or fantasy or does it all depend on whether or not guts are everywhere?

My main genre are historical fiction novels (in English).
Short stories, mostly Horror and Paranormal Erotica (in English).
LOTR fanfiction *hides* (in English and Swedish).
The occasional poem (in German, English, Swedish, and Italian).
Non fiction essays about History and Medieaval Literature (in German and English; and one in French which is a pain in the posterior ;) ).
A PhD thesis (in German). Sadly neglected, though.

Everything under the sun as long as sex and profanity isn't needed to make it work.

I write screenplays; I do freelance entertainment journalism; I have one scholarly paper from college I'm trying to spruce up for publication; I used to write short stories but haven't in a while; And I have one novel in progress which is where my attention is currently centered.

My novel is YA Fantasy-Comedy, but my screenplays are in many genres.
