Oh, hello there. How nice of someone as lovely as you to look in here. :)

What we got here is a thread for the finding of a word the delectable Maryn can use in her erotic perambulations in lieu of any current word for (whispers) -- yes, that word!

So, being the marvelous bunch of writer type writers that you are, can you provide a suitable alternative and get the bauble bodied and hatted one a-writing again? Neologisms is what we're searching for here. Neologisms that can be quivering and moist and maybe even rapacious!

Do you have something to offer to the yonic temple of the created synonym? Your Maryn needs you! :)

Twats and Slits need not apply (unless they are well disguised and very cleverly dressed)

To start with the obvious:
vagina, pussy, beaver, snatch, trim, quim

I do declare I am fond of all six, though -- through experience -- those six are not fond of me. :)

What I'm hoping for is a new term, something our Maryn can use in her erotic peregrinations, with gusto.

Is there a created term for these particular particulars that you want to create and share? Could we start a foof revolution? Is there a name that beats anything out there already?

Is toodles too much? Is flumption too silly? What do you suggest? :)

I once heard someone refer to it as a tootchie.

Edit: but please don't take that as a serious suggestion. I'm just posting for the sake of posting.

I can only take it as a serious suggestion. :)

Tootchie is the first. But I want more, I want you to rock those creative genes and work a word that is so damn marvelous that Maryn will be comfortable and the whole damn world will start using it!

Imagine, your word in bedrooms across the world and let your mind run free! :)

Foof? When I thin of that word, I think of fluffing, otherwise known as the good ol' manual manœuvre.

I'm good with pussy and cunt.

If I don't want to use either, I generally just use her name or just "her" as a synecdoche.

How about "synecdoche"? Her synecdoche seemed bare and defenseless...

That's the biggest ginger minge I've seen since that time when me and Mary Honderglass got close and burnt calcium and iron wool in the science cupboard during third year chemistry. :)

Still, its familiarity, however distant, tells me that one should be looking for a new word to describe such a part -- and besides, minge always makes me think of a surrounding forest rather than the yonic temple of loveliness that is the Foof itself.

I need -- and by extension (yes, extension) our lovely Mayrn needs -- a new word. Oh-where-oh-where are the silver tongued word smiths? Tongues too busy, girls? Hands too busy, boys? :)

Perhaps we should turn to a foreign language to help us in the search for a new and marvelous and acceptable word? Or maybe we could portmanteau two somethings to become one something better -- you know, like what the Spice Girls did in 19 and 96.

Either or anyway, I think it essential that you ask Auntie Maureen over xmas dinner what she calls her cunt and if she has a preference or, indeed, any suggestion as to what it should be called in the future.

The call has been made -- sure, our endeavours might put the Vagina monologues out of business, but hey -- until there's a word or phrase more succinct and more lovely than the awful Hairy Axe Wound, I won't stop in the quest to find something better. :)

My Aunt Maureen calls her's a muffin. Has a nice ring to it when coupled with warm, hot, sweet, soft and so forth. Plus the word evokes how good it smells and tastes. Yum.

Now, have you ever seen your auntie in the same room as Lady 'Bluffin on her Muffin' Gaga, by any chance? :)

As nice as the muffin is -- I have to put it in the same category as muff -- all a bit forestry to me. All a bit soft and sweet and, in the end, ridiculous.

What happens when a most important part of anatomy is reduced to something so silly? What happens when a powerful, life and pleasure giving thing is reduced to a sweet and puffed up dessert?

What is it about that most powerful of part of a woman (aside from her brain) that makes the names for it split into two camps?

In the pink corner, we have fluffy names -- terms that suggest compliance and softness and sweetness and something one can snack on or buy from a seven-eleven.

In the red corner, we have names that rock a hard consonant and seem to prove problematic. These are names one doesn't use in public. These are names that are taboo. These are names with power -- female power -- I wonder why are they not used.

I note that female 'christian' names often end in a vowel. Pussy is more sexy than Foof and less troublesome than cunt. There seems to me to be an extra corner here. Is there a three-way working of terms, now?

Shakespeare anyone?

Mother = Foof

Wife = Pussy

Whore = Cunt

See the way the language works to pigeonhole the woman? Is this my work or is there something in it? Is there a divergence of power (and respect) in these labels? Is there any truth?

Does the female genitalia have to succumb to these labels? What does it mean if it does? Which type of woman are you and why can you not use a certain word? Compliance? Availability? Maturity? What is the point of a soft vowel sound? And what happens when a soft vowel sound is changed into something harder? What does it mean that women and men have a problem with using a hard term for something so powerful?

Let us think about the terms for the male genitalia. Do we need a new term here? Are cock and knob and dick any less ridiculous (excuse the pun) than their female counterparts? Are they okay because they aren't really terms for the male genitals but terms for violence? Is a cock interchangeable with a sword? and if so, what is a foof or a pussy? A wound? Something to be wounded? And if this is the case, then what is a cunt? Something that wounds, perhaps? Something that cannot be wounded?

Is a new term needed for the vagina? Could this thread be mistaken? Might could the mentioned terms for the female foof be perfect as they are, but have been twisted by a gendered politik?

Is it not a revolutionary act to use the word cunt?

Consider the power of the foof. Consider it. Think about how language works and who it works for.

New term needed?

P.s -- can I have your aunts number, Silverking. :)

Harry... Your posts drive me absolutely insane with the desire to read more, no matter the topic. It's as if I can actually hear the words spoken in a ver prim and proper voice, which makes all the foof talk that much more interesting. Please post more. :)

Also, I don't have an aunt Maureen, but that's remarkably close to my mother's name.

Anyway-- I refer to mine as my "business". And I'm sure you can guess what "taking care of business" means. I also used to call that paricular activity "rubbing the magic lamp"

I've used "center" before. And, of course, "quim", but that's more appropriate in my steampunk-addled fiction.

Some marvelously super suggestions so far. :)

Honorable mentions go to Jupiter's Secret Smile, which tweaked my memory nipples into a remembrance, and, dare I say it, a total reappraisal of Semisonic's 1997 titular tune.

I also salute Aggy B's centre, which, I feel, definitely works as a strong and powerful term for the foof because it incorporates the female (or the feminine) as not only a part of the person, but the central part of that person.

As for FP's Business. Well, my word! The business it is. Great term and open, ahem, for so much wordplay and interpretation that one can only glow with all the possible potentialities it presents. :)

There is one term I am particularly inclined to engage with ...

I respectfully submit my front bottom.

Now, not only am I excited to have such a thing submitted, but I marvel at the succinct way in which it suggests, in two words, everything that I shall now discuss in words too many. :)

Front Bottom. Where does this term come from?

Initially, I think, it is a term to de-sexualise the vagina of a young child. But (excuse the pun), look closer at the term -- as Peaches is, I boldly believe, asking us to do -- and what strange and dangerously odd things appear?

What are the properties of a bottom?

In the first (or juvenile) case, it is a channel for excreta. Its physical properties seem similar to that of the foof -- There is a cleft there, something split. A small echo of the actual appearance of the buttocks and the anus -- but what is this de-sexualisation attempting? What is its purpose?

Certainly, part of the front bottom is used to pass a waste product and there is, perhaps, reason to stall an explanation of the birds and the bees. However, it might be beneficial to think about how the term could affect a changing and more adult view of the vaginal canal (minus a C?).

Could it be suggested that the term has an inherent hatred of the function of the Foof as a producer of babies? Is there a fit between the term and a later view of what is passed though it as somehow useless? Could the front bottom only produce shit, and therefore, be reductive to one of the greatest and, perhaps, most defining characteristics of the female person type person (whether that person gives birth or not)?

Is it a term which works against womanhood? In other words, does it suggest that women are allowed to create and have the power of creation, but also enforce a view that what is created is reduced to an unimportant by-product?

Who created the term? Is it a male jealousy? Is it the thumb and self-hatred of those who cannot harbour life within themselves pushing down on the young heads of those who can?

Am I pushing this idea too far? Maybe. Though, when examining the concept of male jealousy with regard to the female ability to give birth I would ask you to consider the names of atomic bombs.

Fat man -- male pregnancy and destruction.

Little boy -- birthed and destructive.

In the second, and more adult case, a bottom becomes sexualised.

How does this happen? The bottom becomes, it could be argued, a 'masculinised' sexual destination. It can be seen as a male foof, something to be fucked that further reduces the importance of the female and her foof, because, like opinions, everybody has one.

Furthermore, a front bottom is not the bottom -- despite the primacy of its name (the front) it can be said that the front bottom becomes a secondary destination by virtue of pre-fix.

Where does this put the female and the female foof on a hierarchal societal and sexual scale?

I would posit that 'below the man' is the answer to the above question. Moreover, the woman whose front bottom is, as I have discussed, a secondary thing, resides in the gendered hierarchy below the homosexual man who is, in a patriarchal and euro-centric society, himself below the heterosexual man.

It would seem to me that all these terms and all this language does much to cut the legs from under the female. With this in mind, I come back to the thought that either the hard terms for foof are best used and reclaimed, or, another term needs be created.

The question is, can you or you or you create it? And if you can, will it be open to such deconstructions? Is there anyway a term can be produced that reflects the power and the perfection of the foof without being loaded with anti-fem connotations?

Perhaps, as I mentioned before, a foreign term might be more applicable. Is there a term for foof that comes from a matriarchal society? Who knows.

Keep 'em coming. The project must go on. :)

My family has always called it a puka, and the butt is a bumpa. I have no idea why. However, that might not work for erotica.

I sometimes like to use the term garden, as in her garden. It evokes a sense of familiarity and yet allows each of us to visualize something different. I have been known to play with forest and garden as a sensual path to her valley of pleasure.

I also use crevice, pussy, cunt, and vagina, depending on the situation and how long I plan to dwell on the matter. If it is a simple mention and moving on from there, vagina is simple and evokes no real sexual tones. It is almost clinical. If I plan to be flowery or descriptive, I may use garden or type of substitution. If we are past description and are down and dirty in the trenches (pun intended) cunt, pussy and such flavor the scene with a gutteral feel.

In a scene where a couple was talking to their priest before getting married, the priest used lilly for women's private parts, and pistol for men's.

I think all these names have appropriate usage. We simply need to think about when and where they should be used.
