Well reading these threads and understanding now there is a difference between business and consumer built laptops in quality, and macs and thinkpads etc..... I see bestbuy has a lot of thinkpads -- but there is so many! Like $500 - $2600.
Eeeegads. Thinkpad, Thinkpad edge ... and I have no clue what all the other stuff means ... NVIDIA .... Athlon ....sigh .....
Obviously I want to write on it. I also build web pages. Ummmm .... hubby is going to want to watch netflix or hulu and the like. I'm a historian so I do a lot with online maps which are large and normally take a while to load, well at least on what I'm using now they do.
I'm not really worried about games. (Although if I'm nice I may install Reader Rabbit for my grandchild.
I've always had problems with games messing things up, but maybe that's not so true any more.
I can figure out of course 4G of ram (2 at least, right?) and narrow down to a bigger screen (so it's easy on my eyes) RW CD/DVD so I can load things or watch movies with out a lag. WiFi of course but I'm sure they all come with that now. But all that other stuff? Haven't a clue. No idea what is a good graphics card and what isn't.
I'm not seeing any consumer reviews at bestbuy on some of these thinkpads either, although I have no problem searching them out.
Any thoughts?
