Does anyone know if there is a forum (or part of this forum?) that discusses various self-publishing options strictly for UK authors?

Should there be a difference? The options are pretty much the same - lulu, kindle etc.

There is nothing to stop you setting up a specific thread to ask a question that pertains to UK only situations - just make sure you label it as such. No need for a seperate forum (we already have our own emoticon :) )

Yes, there is a difference. I've spoken to 2 or 3 self-published UK authors who are looking for such a forum. The market may be international, but there are national considerations with self-publishing.

I didn't mean a separate forum here, necessarily, but an existing one that some UK readers on here might know of...

I live in NI and I've self published a couple of books and to be honest I haven't seen any real difference between my experiences and the experiences of those in, for instance, the states.

Perhaps if you could outline what you think the differences are? Because I'm a little lost as to how different it could be.

I haven't published yet (Feb 28th is the big day), but I live in England... I can't foresee any differences except for payments. I know I'll need to sort out tax and stuff for them, but I'm pretty sure anyone outside the States is facing that issue too... I'd be interested to see what other issues are, am I not thinking of something?

I have self-published print books in the UK through Lulu. I don;t think there is anything specific there that we in the UK need to know about.
In one case, the delivery of an SP book took many weeks because it was printed, due to its format, somewhere else - Sweden, I think. Payments for books that had been bought came through swiftly and without a problem.

I am now about to self-publish through Kindle and Smashwords. I believe that there my be delays with payments if you have not got an ITIN. I have applied for mine already as I have an agent who wrote me the necessary letter, and hopefully I'll get it soon, but if this is your first book you may have to wait to apply for an ITIN till you hae actually sp'ed your book. Check out Scarletpeaches thread on obtaining an ITIN.

The payment issue is probably the major difference I have come across

Kindle payments for UK authors can only be made via cheque and only when you reach $100 (if you are in the US payment can be made via bank transfer for any sum over $10)

Bear in mind that unless you have and ITIN (internationation tax identification number) you will automatically have 30% deducted for tax.

Smashwords will write the necessary letter once your sales have reached $10.

As Aruna said, Scarlettpeaches has a great thread about getting an ITIN here http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202216
