I'm closing in halfway done with A Dance with Dragons and I'm interested to pick up another high-fantasy book/series. Suggestions?

I was about to ask a similar question myself. After doing a little reading, I found the sword of truth series by Terry goodkind. I still don't know that much about it but plan to read more this week. I really liked the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan. I will be interested to see what others have to say.

I used to love Katherine Kerr's Silverdagger series. It has an unusual take on reinxarnation and gets a bit confusing at times, but it has wonderful world-building and keeps surprising you!
I second Goodkind and Jordan, as already mentioned.
I also recommend C.S. Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy. L.E. Modesitt's THE MAGIC OF RECLUCE is not bad. You might also like some lighter fare, like the DragonLance novels.
