Hi, so I figured I would give this tool a try. I am looking for a Beta reader who would be interested in my unedited NaNo. This may be a project for someone who has the spare time, but could give me some direction.

I'm not sure of the genre, though I believe it's more of a Mystery/Drama than anything.

It IS unedited, but it is written in story format. Considering this is my first novel.

If anyone is interested in reading the first couple of chapters, I'd love to simply know if it's worth editing, and moving forward with or should I toss it in the closet as my first throwback.

Here's a blurb that's on my NaNo page.

" Set in a rustic small town that is known for it's lake, Samantha finds herself in search of the purpose of her mother's suicide. In a span of two years Samantha faces heartache, love, triumph, a suspenseful near death experience from a psychopath, and finally an answer."

I'm new to all of this and still working on the "tough skin" so, I'd like anyone who responds to be nice, but not to baby me.

Thanks!

In reality, you should probably edit your ms before you ask for betas. Edit until you can't edit any more. Although, it's very possible you might be able to find someone who'd look at your ms, you'd probably get more takers with a "finished" product. Either way, good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking more for someone who wouldn't mind reading it as is, to see if it's even worth working on further. Again, I'm new at this. If no one is interested, then that's fine with me...it'll be the answer I was looking for :). Thanks for your feedback!

I think your topic sounds really interesting but I wouldn't beta read a first draft (not enough time!) Good luck finding a reader though and I'd definitely consider editing either way, I'm learning so much just editing my first novel as well.

Thank you for this advice. It is really more helpful than you may know.

Aww, so glad to hear it! And if you decide to edit and need a Beta down the line, definitely post again or PM me. Good luck.

Also, I had this status update the other night when editing my novel...

The best part of editing is that great feeling when you realize something you loved is getting BETTER.

And it's completely true.

Thanks for the suggestions and opinions, in this thread and through PMs. I found what I needed, and am no longer in need of a Beta at this time. Thanks!
