Is it reccommende or even okay to put the intent of a character in action. like so.
Chris shouts into the wind.

I'm trying to get away from over used parentheticals.

Well, sure. Some writing schools recommend action lines in preference to parentheticals. Me, I don't see the difference, I wouldn't bounce your script for
CHRIS
(shouting)
Bobby!
...any more than I would bounce it for
CHRIS
BOBBY!
...without the preceding action line, since BOBBY! is obviously shouted (capped plus exclamation mark).
