I thought for the holiday season if anyone is looking for a writing friend that you could share your bio here. Whether we connect or you connect with someone in this thread that you're interested in contacting. I'll go first...

I'm married with two teens, I guess that's why I write young adult fiction. I have two adult novels published and will be publishing my first young adult novel soon. I also just recently received an agent offer on my second YA. I am currently (trying to at least) working on two more YA novels, one at 15K and the other at 20K.

I don't have many real friends, but I love getting email and writing to others to help keep the motivation up. Lately my email's been quiet, too quiet. Basically I haven't gotten anything so much so I am now starting to read my spam just to say I got an email to myself. Ha! Anyway, I would love to have more writing friends, the more the merrier.

I've been writing for several years now and have from poetry, children's books, short stories to novels online and in print. I am very savvy with the young adult market too, so I could give pointers there too. If interested, you can leave a little bio here or pm me.

I think a writing friend sounds like a great idea! Of my handful of friends, none of them are writers and I've found they get bored pretty quickly when I start talking about it, haha. So, about me:

I'm 28, married, and an attorney. I write YA, although I love to read pretty much everything. I've tried writing adult fiction and it just doesn't work. I guess I'm a kid at heart! My two teenage siblings and the youth at church give me great insight though, and I still remember my angst-y years well enough. As of yet, I'm not published, but I'm churning away and so far haven't lost hope! No kids, but I have three cats who alternate between thinking they're children and dogs. I can't break it to them that they're cats, so they live in a state of ignorant bliss playing fetch and running to me when I yell "kids".

That's about it I guess. : )

Hi...uh...my name is Amanda. I am 25 y/o and I suffer from MMS. I am inexplicably drawn to YA and so of course that is to what my writing is geared. When it comes to books and writing, I'd love to have a writer friend who understands my frustrations since mine in RL, plus my family, look at me like I'm an alien when I start talking about novels and manuscripts and agents. I'm writing my third YA manuscript that I'm hoping will be the agent-catching winner.

2012 will be a big year for me. Finishing my current WIP. *Hopefully* snagging an agent. Moving to TX. Getting married!

I'm going to force myself to stop. I'll keep rambling if I don't. =D

Hello!

I'm 21, graduating in May with a degree in Communications. I work as a freelance fiction and non-fiction writer and I'm starting a business-writing business when I graduate, despite the fact that fiction is my true love (it just doesn't pay the bills as of yet).

I've never gotten a manuscript fully polished (shame on me), but that's what I'm aiming for with my current WIP.

I write literary fiction, either very gritty or very gritty and dystopian. My work is too dark for some people and tends to be pretty damn depressing. Ha ha.

I don't have any real life writer friends. Someone to talk about writing with would be awesome!

I'm 22, about to not-graduate college. I'm leaving school sans degree (after three and a half years) because of money and depression. I'm in Massachusetts now, but at the end of next summer I'm moving south, probably to New Orleans (if anyone lives in NOLA, I'd love to talk to you). I hope to work in a bookstore, but they are a dying breed, so will probably end up in other retail or waitressing, which is fine by me. Hopefully someday I'll make some money writing.

I write mostly short fiction and short creative non-fiction. My short fiction is genre, mostly horror/suspense. I like ghosts and haunted houses in particular. I'm a huge movie buff (used to be a film student). I also write and edit op/ed and arts for my college newspaper. I have few non-newspaper writing friends IRL, so I'd love to have more!

Hello everyone,
I am 48 --feeling my age with all the 20 somethings posting--and live in Texas. Been looking for a writing buddy for awhile. My schedule is erratic, so I can't do line by line crits, but can give general opinions. Mainly looking for people to chat with about writing and anything else. I write better when I have someone to brainstorm with.

I write fantasy, but read a variety of genres. Just signed up at the NaNoWriMo site, even tho it is over. Hope to try it next time. Right now I am just trying to buckle down and get something written.

Hi everyone!

While I started writing seriously only about eighteen months ago, my stories lived a vibrant life in my head for decades. I write love story/romance novels. The first is out with beta readers, and the second is in proofing. Hopefully soon I'll be able to start my agent hunt. Ugh.

I'm in my late 40's, married, with one feline child (shhh, don't tell him he's not a blood relation). I've worked in advertising for fifteen years, on an operations end. While I do work with copywriters daily, I’ve found few that are receptive to my type of writing. So meeting someone with whom I can chat, chuckle or if needed console, would be wonderful.

I'm 20 and I enjoy long walks on the beach and--

I started writing, really, about six month ago. I added it up and i've written 445,000 words. Only 40 of them usable.

I'm going to start doing 1 short story every month with the goal of two novels a year. I would love a short story buddy to exchange often with. The rule I'm setting is: Enter every contest I possibly can. They seem to be the best way to get your work read.

My writing usually jumps genres, but almost always has a twinge of horror and black humor.

Hello everyone!

I'm a 28 year old single woman with no kids. It tends to help with having time to write almost whenever I want to. I write primarily urban fantasy though I delve periodically into fantasy as well.

I started writing when I was 17 and still in high school. I've always written in the urban fantasy genre because I think we all wish there was a little magic in the world. Am I right? I have a couple of friends that write but they don't write novels and they don't write for the purpose of actually being published.

While I have my world very well flushed out and I have a general idea of what I want to do to write out the story I have in my mind, I have not had any real feedback on it. I don't know if it all makes sense or if it's even any good at all. I've written two novels, though I'm working on the third rewrite of one of them.

I am 30 years old (I was about to type 29 until reality came back

). I also do not have any friends who write so talking with someone about the ups and downs would definitely be an added plus. Roaming blogs and forums already helps!

I am happily married, no children, no cats, no dogs but my husband can be a handful!

I live in Germany, I am French but called the US home for 7 years.

I enjoy food (any type), taking pictures, blogging. I love my job, use my commuting time to write. I am an avid reader (here again quite eclectic in my tastes).

I am currently working on a YA paranormal romance...

What a great idea!

I am Australian, 41, single with no kids of the furless variety, though I have quite the family if we count furkids--2 cats, 1 dog a house-rabbit and two horses.

I write and read fantasy, both Urban and Epic and have finished four novels so far. Currently, I have one of each on the go--but am concentrating on the UF for the moment. (I also have a finished UF that I wouldn't mind a fresh eye for, if anyone is interested.)

I'd really like to have some fellow Fantasy writer buddies to bounce ideas off and chat about the genre in general.

Hey! I'm pretty darn new here, so I figured this would be a good way to meet some people.

I'm 20, a junior in college. I'll graduate with a BA in English (and no, I don't know what I'm going to do with it). I have a couple short stories published, one SF and one non-fiction humor. But at the moment I'm working on an Urban fantasy novel that I'm really excited about.

What I think would be really cool is to meet someone with a similar WIP who would be willing to email chapters back and forth a couple times a week. It would be nice to have someone to give some feedback while I'm writing just to keep me motivated and I would be more than wiling to do the same for anyone who's interested.

The holidays are always a terrible time for my writing, and unfortunately, I don't expect this year to be any different. However, I have to post this now because everyone else is stating their age and I can only claim to be 33 for two more days.

I write mostly Urban Fantasy (currently about 70k into my WIP and I can't wait to finish it!), but I'm open to most genres. I don't read much YA, so I'm not sure how helpful I'd be with a YA ms.

I have a few solid crit partners, but I'm looking to add a few more if I find the right person (in my head, that didn't sound so much like a bad personal ad). I'm definitely a line-by-line critter; I just can't help myself. I'm also open to brainstorming and possibly swapping manuscripts once mine are ready.

I'm married with three adult children. I'm 51 years old.

I'm currently working on an erotic novel. I don't have any real friends either. Nor can I speak with family members, other than my husband, about the work I do. I'm not published, but I am working towards that goal. It would be nice to meet a writing buddy.

One other thing, if I'd had the choice of another genre to write under I would never have become a writer.

Make that two things. I would also be interested in meeting with someone in my area/region. I live south of Austin, Texas.

I'm 49 with a degree in English Literature. I'm a voracious reader with a track record writing NF mag articles but new to writing fiction. Married, 2 grown kids, 2 French Bulldogs, and early retired from oil and gas business career.

I'd be happy to be someone's cheerleader or to find a CP partner for flash fiction or short stories (the operative word there is "short"). Just joined W1S1, so I'm starting to crank out the shorts. I'm not a SciFi aficionado, so if you're a SciFi-er, then cheerleading is the most I could offer.

Hmm, I'm not sure where the results from this thread are headed, but I'd like to connect with more writing people.

50, married, kids, full time day job. Have taken a beginners fiction writing course and a few private fiction writing lessons.

Two successful NaNoWriMos, two failures, one successful 3DayNovel, plus various short fiction. Have written erotica, romance, horror, literary, humor, contemp adult, science fiction and aborted one mystery (one of the NaNo failures).

Other than Anne Rice I have an inability to find paranomal interesting. YA I don't mind reading but I don't think I have a good writer or reader perspective for the genre.

I'm will turn 60 this year, yuk. Married for 40 years with 3 daughters, ages 17, 22, 31 and 3 grandchildren, 4, 6, and 15. I live on a small goat farm in Texas. I don't have friends that are interested in writing or reading anything other than Christian genre. And according to my youngest and her friends, I write 'alien porn'.

I have 2 scifi/fantasy romance ms completed and 2/3 through the 3rd with notes on 4 more. Should be a total of nine books in the series. I also write short stories and have been working on a scifi epic for the past 5 years.

I would love to have someone i can talk to about writing.

Hi everyone.

Well, this is my public bio:
Sarah began writing for her own amusement in grade school. Having her first story laughed at by her teacher, she hid her writing from the world for years. In that time, she's dabbled in the world of fan-fiction and short stories, but it wasn't until moving to Orlando that her own original works began to truly take shape. She is currently writing the Penny Dreadful series and working on the first book in the Zodiac series, as well as taking lengthy notes on a few more ideas she's been having.
However, that doesn't really say anything about me as a person...
I'm 33, single, and live on my own. I am, by my own admission, a NERD. I love Doctor Who (even made my car look like the TARDIS), video games, have a huge movie collection, know how to fix a Mac computer like a near expert, and in my day job, I'm a free-lance seamstress/costumer/wig stylist/crafter/cosplayer. I've been in love with all things supernatural (not the show, the actual supernatural) since I can remember, and used to write my own vampire fan-fiction in high school (that hand-written monstrosity of a book is still sitting on the shelf near me right now, and I look at it from time to time just to laugh and realize I've gotten SO much better). My biggest obsession is mermaids and mermen.

Oh, and Sarah Hobson isn't my full legal name. My actual last name is Cullen (which I've decided not to publish under for obvious reasons)

hey sarah, did you write buffy angel vampire fiction? i was friends with people in high school that wrote fanfiction for those series. also to the mermaids, you should watch H20: just add water, its a cool series and inspired some of my short story work on my blog about the mermaids. you can get it on netflix for instant stream.

No, I was already out of HS when Buffy came on... It was Interview With The Vampire fanfic stuff LOL (though I do love me some Buffy/Angel, never wrote anything about it).
I've seen H20, even the meh season 3. Waiting for the new spin-off rumored to be about a merman (YAY!). Actually, name a movie or TV series with a mermaid or merman and I've probably seen it. I even have a mermaid tattooed on my leg ^_^
