Seems there’s a lovely review of An Unacceptable Gentleman (release date listed as January 2012) in the newest issue of RT Book Reviews. I love RT, and normally I’d say, “YAY!” Unfortunately, my book is titled An Unexpected Gentleman and its release date is December 6th.

I swear I’m a magnet for this stuff. Anyone remember when my debut was printed with pages missing from the epilogue? Did I ever mention here how one of those faulty copies was used for a translation? Seriously. The pages went missing in not one, but two languages. That was awesome.

And for weeks after its release, all e-copies of Nearly a Lady downloaded with the title The Square Root of Murder. To this day, I’m not clear on why that happened.

Anyway—An RT misprint is hardly akin to missing pages, but I could still use some help getting the word out to anyone who’s a subscriber. If you know one, could you pass the correct info along? Pretty, pretty please? :Hug2:

Also, I wouldn’t mind hearing some similar WTH stories from other writers. I KNOW I’m not the only person who has weird stuff happen.

Please share. My misery needs company. :poke:

Dude. First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title was your missing pages. I'm sorry, but I laughed.

Since this is the third in your wierd string of publishing oddities, I hope it's the last. :Hug2:

Thanks! :Hug2:

Sadly, I think it's at least four. The cover flats of Nearly A Lady have a big safety pin on the front. Very Regency. The pin was removed for the actual books, but still. . .those flats are out there.

Don't apologize for laughing. I guarantee I've laughed harder. What else can ya do?

Oh man, that sucks! At least they got your name right and hopefully people will google that instead of the book title. You're so right, this is a laugh or cry situation. :)

Of course, now you're just going to have to write one called An Unacceptable Gentleman, so at least if people search for that they'll find a book by you and might get via that to An Unexpected Gentleman too. :D

I have one audiobook. Just one. I'm so proud of my little audiobook. Too bad if you search for it at audible.com, you have to search for "Carney Dee" instead of "Dee Carney". And believe it or not, it matters what order you put the words in.

*sigh*

So sorry about your mishaps. They truly suck.

Well done on keeping a good sense of humor about all these errors, Alia.
Surely your run of bad luck has to be over now?

Lame :(

After all the hard work there's just stuff you can never control.

Frustrating.

Awww, man, that's got to be wearing. I'm glad you can laugh, but I hope things get better. :Hug2:

(My names get messed up a lot too -- condolences)

Thanks, Alessandra. Oh, yeah, I bet the letter X pops up in your name all the time. I'm so sorry. :)

That sounds. . .crazy frustrating. I am so sorry. But not nearly as sorry as I probably should be because I like hearing that I'm not alone. :D

On the one hand, I understand how frustrating that must be; on the other hand, I can't help but thinking you might get more promotion and thus, more sales, out of this situation. Here's to lots of sales!

Hon, when they reviewed my book in 1999, they contributed it to a totally different AUTHOR. Count yourself fortunate.

My respect for RT never recovered.

A mistake worked to advantage for Christina Dodd and her three-armed heroine after all. ;)

One of the greatest covers of All Time!

You win. Hands down.

And a happy update -- RT reached out with a lovely email and has already corrected the website.

Great googly moogly! The first thing I thought when I saw the thread title was "not again." I don't know what you can do except laugh about it.

I recently had one of those moments. When all my books were re-released by my new publisher, there was one small typo that went out. The cover page. Yep. While we carefully proofed the galleys, we all overlooked a glaring error in the TITLE on the FIRST page. Doh! The "Mad Hatterlys series" read the "Mad Hetterlys series".

It's fixed now, thank goodness.

Alissa, I feel for you. Though not as wildly known or read, my VERY FIRST publication was printed wrong. The horror story was called NIGHT OF THE DOLL. When the publisher did their thing they named it NIGHT OF THE DOLLS. I know, just an S right? Wrong. I've had people contact me that the story is good but only has one murderous doll instead of multiples like the title promised. Hopefully the only bad luck I will ever have in that deparment but not likely.

Great to hear they fixed it!

See!? Knew I wasn't the only one. Do we have a gleeful hand-rubbing smilie? 'Cause we need one.

Marguerite--I'm glad the error was caught and fixed, though not as glad as you, I'm sure. Also, your use of the phrase "Great googly moogly" has made my day. :D

Erika--:Hug2:One letter is not just One Letter when it's in the title. Yikes
