Is anyone else pumped about this? It looks really good, and I am looking forward to seeing Emma Watson in something other then Hermonie.

Did anyone read the book? I've heard its not exactly factual, but I still think the movie looks good.

I'm also obsessed with the music they use at the end.

I was going to see this before I found out Emma Watson was in it. I can't stand her. She ruins this film for me, before I've even seen it.

I don't think she has a big part in this though.

I like her. I don't think she's steller--not yet anyways--but her acting doesn't bug the crap out of me like a certain Twilight star...actually multiple Twilight stars.

Anyways, Michelle Williams looks like she will give an amazing performance, and I wouldn't be surprised if she was nominated for an oscar.

Judging by the trailer, she does seem to have captured the essence of Marilyn. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

My thoughts exactly. On the outside, she looks happy and carefree, but we see in those few clips in the preview that that is not the case.

Were people really shocked when she committed suicide (marilyn of course)? Was she like a Lindsey Lohan running around bars which everyone knew about it? Or did it come as a huge surprise?

I'm quite looking forward to it, though I share your concern about Miss Watson, SP. She's not a good actress, I'm afraid, though seems to be a lovely human being as far as I can tell. But I don't think her role is that large in it.

I actually wound up watching the film that they are filming in this movie on TCM. It's a really interesting and odd film, clearly based on a play. Anyway, I'm glad I saw it before seeing this movie, I feel like I'll be able to have some degree of insight as to what is going on.

Anyway, yeah, really looking forward to this one. Am a fan of Michelle Williams.

Any thoughts on Julia Ormond playing Vivien Leigh? I haven't seen any footage yet.

It's such an unexpected casting choice that I feel she must do a good job, you know? It's not like you think, "Ah yes, perfect" when you hear it, and since she doesn't exactly look like her or anything, my assumption goes to there being something she did in an audition or something that made sense. So while I've heard nothing about the performance, I'm inclined to think she'll be good in the role.

Anyway, yeah, really looking forward to this one. Am a fan of Michelle Williams.

So am I - having watched Wendy and Lucy, Meek's Cutoff and Blue Valentine quite recently.

Considering how often Kenneth Branagh was compared to Laurence Olivier twenty-plus years ago, I guess he just had to play him one day. So here he does.

Emma Watson is quite a long way down the cast list. She wasn't too bad but didn't stand out either in Ballet Shoes, the only thing I've seen her in other than the Harry Potter movies.

See I thought she was terrible in BALLET SHOES. But I gave her the benefit of the doubt since she was still a kid. With the recent Harry Potters though, yes she looks beautiful, and the camera loves her, she's also really good at shedding tears, but her delivery of lines is so often stiff and off beat, like she's just missed her cue or something. I feel a bit bad saying this, because I truly think she seems like a lovely person in real life and I still consider her a kid and don't want to judge too harshly. But she's not a kid anymore. At any rate, it will be very interesting to see her in this movie, to see if she proves me wrong. I'd love to be.

I'm not a huge fan of Emma Watson's acting either, though I agree she seems like a nice person. She's smart to take some supporting roles. It can't be easy moving beyond the Potter series.

I want to see this. I have always loved Marilyn. Curious to see how Michelle Williams does with the role, she looks great in the trailers. As for Emma, I don't feel strongly one way or the other about her. She won't stop me from seeing this, she doesn't seem to be in much of the film.

I saw this today and liked it. They portray the happy on the outside but broken on the inside aspect of Monroe really well, and they seem to have nailed her erratic behaviour. But I feel like they portrayed her as too unintelligent. But then that could be down to the fact that she's always acting like Marilyn, even when off-screen and doesn't really let anyone see the real her.

And I don't mind Emma Watson, but I think her character was a bit pointless. I would understand the drama and her jealousy over Colin falling in love with Marilyn if he and Lucy were properly together. But they'd been on one date when Colin started falling for Marilyn.

I'm excited to see it over Christmas break! Looking forward to it. It's actually a movie me and my friend can see together since he wants to become a director and is rather hard on movies.

I saw the movie today and it was wonderful. I highly recommend seeing it.

Michelle Williams did a superb job as Marylin. I would like to think she would get an Oscar nod. To me it felt like really watching Miss Monroe. She became her and had a wonderful performance.

Again, highly recommend seeing this. Also, Emma Watson is only in a handful of scenes, so I don't think she'll ruin it for any of you.

I enjoyed it too, and not just Williams who was wonderful. I found the cast in general very good.

Except for Emma Watson. I now firmly believe she's a passable actress but nothing more (and I know that sounds mean, she really seems like a lovely person, but she really does need to work on her acting and a director really needs to work with her, not just cast her because she has a huge following and the camera loves her - she's smart enough, I bet she would learn quickly). And I agree that her character wasn't all that necessary (and she's not in it much, so don't worry for those of you who feel slightly more strongly about her than I do :) ).

Yes, her character could have been written out entirely, however, I still don't have any problems with her. I just think her character--in this particular film--was bland. I thought she was great as Hermonie.

Also, she's young--like myself--and I hope that one day she will get an oscar or something. I think she has the potiental, but that's just my opinion.

On this we will disagree :) . She might be young, but she's not THAT young, she's not a child anymore even though she still looks like one. Besides there are many young actresses out there who are simply superb, and if you are looking for inspiration, then look to them: the Fannings, Abigail Breslin, Saoirse Ronan, Chloe Moretz.

And I thought she was at best decent as Hermione. But she had an advantage playing that role in that it didn't ask her to stretch much. She really only had to do one thing, look worried, and sometimes coyly happy. The camera loves her, and she's good at looking concerned and crying on cue, but her lines were always delivered a beat too late, and she doesn't have range with her skill. Now I know this may read as harsh, but I've spent a long time working with actors, casting them, directing, and acting opposite them. A crtitique like this is not meant as a diss, I do mean what I said above, she can learn and can improve (like Radcliffe, who was no natural talent - which he himself admits - but has worked steadily over the years and the improvement is obvious). I think she's smart, she seems nice, but she gets a lot of leeway because of her looks. I think directors need to start really working with her, because some of her errors (like sighing before saying her lines, and not being able to jump on a cue) are very quick things to solve if people would simply point them out to her.

At any rate, of course in the end this is just my opinion, and I want to reiterate I actually like her as a person (at least what I know of her, I've never met her). This is simply my professional opinion, and, let's be honest, she's had a heck of a better career than I have so I am well aware that my opinion is not exactly necessary. :)

I just finished watching it about forty minutes ago, still letting it settle in. I'll say this for it:

I wasn't a Michelle Williams fan at all before seeing this. She really nailed that role, she made me love her and she broke my heart. The movie itself was great, it was an interesting look into a few moments of someone's life, but Michelle's performance really blew my hair back.
