Hello, feeling lost. I have 2 1/2 years until empty nest, and am having an indentity crisis. I wander in and out of many professions (RN, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Pilates Instructor). I also write for a local magazine, mostly health related articles. But what I really want to do is write more than I do. I started an anthology several years ago, but 2 family crises got in the way. Now I just sigh alot, and cry occasionally, because I don't know why I am so stuck. Is there anyone out there who feels like this?

All the time. You should check out my posts.

However, I don't believe your troubles should get in the way. I believe you should write them down. Use them for the good of your imagination. And if it's fact-based writing you aquire, I believe you should keep writing for the good of everyone here.

Behind you!
I'm an empty-nester and I only used to feel like that. You can write your way through it, or around it, as advice or humor or even horror.

You'll also rediscover who you are and what you like about yourself and your spouse before the whole dynamic of your life was skewed by kids, once they're off and running. And didn't you raise them as well as you could precisely so they would one day be able to be off and running on their own? Of course.

Now I miss them when they're away, yet I'm glad when they return to their other lives, because my universe stops being kidcentric.

Maryn, glad to welcome you here

Welcome Donnajayne!

Sorry that you have been having such a hard time. I went through the crying bit after my accident. If your crying, etc. just won't go away I would gently suggest that you chat with your doctor (you could be depressed). I am convinced that meds helped me get through it with less emotional scarring than if I had tried to get through it alone.

I've also found AW to be a blessing. The support, humour, encouragement, etc. from these kind people have helped lift me up and have helped give words to what has been going on inside my head and heart.

Welcome and many blessings!
