Who are the old-fashioned heroes?

We've had discussions here about how so many modern MCs are drunks or otherwise have... issues.

Well, my MC doesn't and I'm trying to find a way to describe him, harking back to a more traditional hero. But I'm struggling with who to compare him to. So far I've got James Bond. . . but my guy is American, so can y'all come up with some other ladies-first, martini-sipping, suit-wearing heroes I can make comparisons with?
