I've written a short story which I'd like to put up in one of the forums for a crit, but I am not sure where it belongs.

One of the antagonists is both human and insect. It is set in an old house in a garden estate, in modern times. It could be a creature feature, but is more of a thriller/suspense story than horror. There is no gore, and the ending is like something from a slipstream kind of genre. So - creature features would normally be horror, but this doesn't go as far as a true horror story would. I think of it as fantasy - but it isn't traditional mages/magic/completely alternative world fantasy.

Is this suitable for the sci-fi fantasy forum, even though it uses some horror tropes? I am guessing its too fantastic for the thriller/suspense forum.

Thanks for any comments.

Post it in the fantasy and science fiction section. Fantasy doesn't mean high fantasy with wizards. It means any sort of fantasy, including contemporary.

I think if the antagonist is some kind of human/insect hybrid as a result of simply being just that, then it's fantasy, but if there's some kind of "scientific" explanation as to why he is that (i.e. an experiment, a mutation, whatever) then it should be science fiction. From what I've seen, the most prominent difference between science fiction and fantasy is how the author goes about explaining the unexplainable.
