Hey Y'all.
I'm just about finished with a first draft (47k) of my YA contemporary novel "Daddy Issues." Here's the rough query to give you an idea of what it's about:
Why does everyone go to Mexico to escape the law? Colt doesn’t know; especially now that she’s here. It's almost as much of a prison as the jail cell she’d be in if she hadn’t fled the country hours after killing her father. Her skin color lets her fit in, but it’s nothing like home.
When Avery walks into the restaurant where Colt’s tending bar, it’s immediately evident that she doesn’t belong. Colt’s street-bred instincts recognize the men she’s with as Savages--human traffickers who sell pretty teenage girls on the black market.
Hoping to earn back some karmic points, Colt sneaks Avery away from the savages, and promises to get her back safely to the U.S. But doing so will mean breaking some laws, and revealing her family legacy to Avery. Colt will have to navigate the ins and outs of a Mexican cartel, along with the consequences of patricide and her uncharacteristic attachment to Avery over the stretch of the journey.
I'll gladly swap for anything YA or Adult fiction
Thanks!
