Hi guys

It's been a very long time since I last visited AW (real life caught up on me) and after years of constant edits on my finished manuscript "Fires and Embers", I decided to try my hand at turning it into a graphic novel.

I'm not entirely sure how the transition should go or if I'm doing things right. So I was wondering if anyone here has ever done so? Transition from written novel to graphic novel I mean? I'd like to hear how you guys did it or if you have any insights you could share.

Oh, my graphic novel WIP can be found in this link: http://gwendy85.deviantart.com/art/Fires-and-Embers-p11-259971626?q=gallery:gwendy85/10382739&qo=9

Judging by the work posted on Deviant Art, you seem to know what you're doing...if you are the artist, it's even more impressive.

I'm currently contracted to adapt several novels into the "graphic narrative" for the GN imprint of Dark Horse, Sequential Pulp.

I talk about it here:

I employ a particular "prose to graphics" technique, but I don't know if it would be useful for you.

Yeah, I did do those artworks. Art has always been my first love but to combine that with my second live (writing) is more fulfilling :)

What exactly is this prose to graphics technique? I actually don't know much about transitions. I just go with the flow. Any insights would be helpful :)

Essentially, examine every exposition scene, i.e., "talking heads" and rejigger it into some sort of action, even if it's just the characters riding bicycles or walking along a beach.

Place it a visually interesting setting.

This may be a departure from the way the scenes are set down in prose, but while two or three people snitting at each other while they sit around a dining table works in a novel, it's death in a graphic novel.
