Anyone who writes should know about this program: http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.htm. You paste your text into a box and the program reads it back to you. Right now, it's free, so go for it!
Text to sound comes included with macs for some time now...
No need to go paste it in any box, just highlight the text and press your chosen control. I tried it out to compare, but it did not work. Anyway, helpful indeed. Except intonation can't be faithfully executed and though an app like this helps to catch mistakes, it is still not a perfect replacement for reading out loud (sadly).
Mac's text to speech is great for catching "lulls" in stories and it creates a distance. I find it helpful for editing. Hope it will still improve further, but great job so far.
