I got
this one a month or so ago and I'm really happy with it although I've never used a graphics tablet before.
I use it for photocorrections in PS Elements and to draw vectors. I find it fine for both of them.
I've tried using it to sketch stuff in PSE but I don't get on well with it - it is very different to drawing with a pencil and paper. It's not terribly sensitive even though I've tweaked the settings, not quite as sensitive as a biro.
The big thing I miss from it is having hotkeys on the actual tablet, if I was buying again I'd definitely prefer one with them on (although I do now work with my feet on the desk, the keyboard on my knees and the tablet in my lap)
Mine is about A5 size which sounds small but I wouldn't want a bigger one. The tablet area corresponds to the screen size so using it as a mouse, the tracking felt very slow at first, but I have got used to it.
This is the "standard" first tablet, so it might be a good choice to see how she gets on with it and she can upgrade in a couple of years.
If you've any questions, feel free to PM me.
