I'm new around here so hopefully this is an OK question. But, I can't be the only one . . .

Although we know the optimal way to make more is to
get private clients, what can we do to pay the bills in the meantime? The content mills that I've contacted are not hiring (due to our friend the Panda). Demand is drying up. Would a
kind soul help with names of some current sources that pay like or more than Demand? Thanks!!

Remember, the good you do always comes back to you. :-)

This might be a little late for an answer, but I'll reply anyway and hope you see it!

While I'm not sure of any insta-cash sources, you could try advertising on Craigslist and Google Adwords to bring in new clients (supposing you have set up a freelance writing website). Make cold-calls or write direct mail e-mails to introduce your services to clients in your area of expertise. Or you can talk to friends, family, and former colleagues to see if any of them know of writing opportunities for you. Check out employment ads on Craigslist and various job sites, and apply to all of the ones that you might be a good fit for.

Honestly, freelance writing can be a tough market to crack. Especially now that it's becoming crowded. There probably aren't going to be a ton of opportunities for you to make money very quickly, but if you persevere you'll build a good client list.

Good luck!!
