Hi all,
Three days ago, I epublished my first book with Amazon, Kindle,--"A Ghoulish Good Time" three spooky tales--and have had only one sale. I know that I'm new at this, but I'm very disappointed.
Outside of telling family and friends, and facebook, I don't know what else to do to promote my book. Any suggestions? Thanks, Alan

I've never epublished, but I've studied on how to market your book.
First of all, there is an option for a signature at the bottom of your posts here on AW. Use that! Add a link to your book in your siggy, as well as any forums you are a member of.

Next, you can go to the Amazon Kindle forums, there's an area for self-publishers, and add your book title to threads that interest you for that sort of thing. I've only browsed but have seen tons of threads for things such as "rate me and I'll rate you" etc.

Do you have a blog? Get one! Post about things other than your book and keep it up to date. And find other blogs that do reviews on books. You may have to wait awhile, and some people don't review self-pubbed works (not sure if you self-pubbed), but this is a great way to get the word out too.

There's 3 things you can do :) And don't get discouraged, it does take a while to get the word out.

Get author interviews, do guest posts, review other indie books on Amazon that are similar to your so your name gets out there, definitely take advantage of the message boards, etc.

Don't know how effective Booksie is on sales, but with sample chapters and stories, I've had thousands of reads and many comments. I've been with Booksie for quite awhile though.
LibraryThing, Goodreads, Shelfari, Red room, and others of their ilk, are only meaningful if you participate in the discussions, reviews and stories.

Good luck,

Tri

I do a workshop and DVD entitled "SO you want to write a novel?" it reflects the good, bad, and ugly of the fiction writing industry. To help newbies I did some research on the stat of the market. Turns out, on average SP authors self 100 copies of their books. Its the nature of the industry, though there are exceptions I refer to in the DVD. One thing important to all SP and indie authors is self promotion. I posted a three part article on "Self promotion: what works/what doesn't" The link can be found on the link page of my website (Davisstories.com).

Start by linking to it in your signature line on this forum. To suggest anything more I would need to have a look at it. Promotion of ebooks is not 'one size fits all'.
