Suggestions for guest writer at book conference

Hello, I'm helping the search committee for a book convention in northwest Florida scheduled for early 2012, and we'd like to have a comic book writer speak.

If possible, we'd like to find a comic book writer living in Florida, or close by--somewhere in driving range in the southeast.

I haven't had much luck searching Google. Does anyone have some names of writers they could suggest?

I used to live in Florida...was a guest at a number of conventions there in the late 80s through the mid-90s. But...I don't live within driving distance of the place now. Check out Michael Hudson of the Dark Horse imprint, Sequential Pulp. He lives in New Port Richey.

The conference is called Books Alive, and it takes place each February in Panama City. The site is: www.booksalive.net

Is Chuck Dixon in Florida? I might be confusing him with someone else or thinking of a FL based studio he used to work with.
