Free photo prep?

Hi, tech wizards. I'm currently using Photobucket to prepare photos for posting here and at my site for the deaf.

Photobucket is free, and I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but the site seems harder and harder to navigate. Yes, I would like some cheese with my whine.

Are there any free sites to assist once-in-a-while posting which may be less complicated for the technically impaired?

I give reps for even snarky comments.

I have accounts at both PhotoBucket and Flickr. I find that either can be a bit awkward to use if you only use them occasionally (in other words, they're not that intuitive to use for some of the manipulation functions). If you use them a lot, then, of course, it becomes much easier and quicker to figure out how to do something.

You might look at Flickr and see if it looks any easier to use. It's free as well. I use it much more than PB.

You might also want to create your own mini users manual.

What? I had to wait an entire four minutes for help? That's a lot of downtime for someone whose so busy being retired, sitting on his ass, and wanting free stuff.

My sis and I attended an annual deaf camp in the Oregon woods all last week. Great fun. I'm stuffed with Oregon blackberries, but no wild blueberries at the lower level. My former beekeeper boss says they won't be ready in the foothills of Mt. Hood until later this month.

Fires there now, so keeping fingers crossed for bees and berries.

You might also want to consider a free tool like Irfanview. For quick, crop, resize, mass conversion and renaming, it's a great tool.

Add one more, Chase? I use ImageShack.us (not .com) and while the free level is sometimes mildly confusing, I do all right for someone who's a bit slow when it comes to technical matters.

I can't believe the blackberries I've been picking this summer.

Moved to the Pacific NW in fall of 2008, but this is the first summer I've seen blackberries worth picking.

Both Flicker and Picasa have local applications that you can download to edit files locally, and make posting easier.

All the image sites are a little eccentric, so find the one that suits you best.

As far as modifying a photo on your own computer, I find that Microsoft Office Picture Manager is fine for most basic tasks (resizing, cropping, etc.).
