Hi There,

I put a tweet out for a guest post. Someone answered the request. I responded to the person with my email address. They sent me an email without asking me what I was looking for in a guest post. They sent me a guest post they wrote for a client with link to client.

I responded that I wasn't willing to do a 3rd party guest post. I felt that the person was getting paid for it. Would you do this?:flag:

I think your response was perfectly fine. I don't think what they did was appropriate, especially without asking.

I believe they should have touched base with you and asked how to proceed to make a submission. Ideally, if the blogger isn't getting paid for the guest post exchanging links or allowing the blogger to publish a short bio of two-three sentences is appropriate with a link to their site.

I agree with starbirdy. I've been thinking about looking for guest bloggers for my nature site. The kind of response you got isn't something I'd considered happening so I'm glad brought it up.

If you had said yes and published the story you would have violated the rights of the author. I think it is time to set some rules in the Interenet and follow them.

Would you add a link for submission guidelines with the tweet. She said it was a post for a client that wanted it immediately.

If you had said yes and published the story you would have violated the rights of the author.

How would I have been violating rights of author?

I have been having a difficult time looking for guest bloggers for my site to. I have had emails sent to me where people wanted as much as $70 per post from them to do a guest article and link it to their a couple other sites.
Whatever happen to bloggers supporting bloggers and just wanting to help out.

I personally get way too many request for guest bloggers. I never asked for one, but they try to pitch to me anyways. I almost always decline since I never sought any and on top of that my blog is not a place for ads.

I'm not big on taking on guest bloggers. However, I have started writing guest blogs for others, but that's just to help with a book launch. I always let the blogger pick the topic and then I write my take on it.

I don't think most guest bloggers realize that there's a certain feel all blogs have and if their post doesn't fit, it won't be added.
