Hello! :hooray:

This looks like an amazing community and I am looking forward to getting to know you.

I am a creative writer who has written several articles but I am now working on my first novel. I enjoy writing horror with a splash of romance (not the over-the-top gushy, sparkly stuff though LOL). I enjoy writing with a bit of edginess if you know what I mean.

I look forward to learning from you and hopefully I am able to offer something as well. So drop me a PM or reply to this thread and tell me a little about yourself so we can become more acquainted. :)

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the 'forum jump' you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. After you post 50 posts you can use the SYW areas to get help there. The password for some of the areas is…..vista. A word to the wise, it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

Horror with a splash of romance... being horror, makes me wonder what the splash might involve! Welcome.

Welcome 'new here' nice to meet you. LOL, but in all seriousness I'm looking forward to seeing what you mean by 'horror with a "splash" of romance.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all of your warm welcomes :)

Many of you inquired about what I mean by horror with a splash of romance.

Well, let me try to explain it the best way I know how.

I write about vampires, zombies, and basically any other type of monster. But, I am the type that prefers Damon over Stephan, Fright Night over Twilight, and while I used to be a fan of Eric over Bill, well I am changing my mind about that very quickly.

This may be a little weird but, evil creepy stuff excites me!:evil

So you may be thinking…where’s the splash of romance?
Well, everyone needs a little love sometimes. I just prefer it when characters that are supposed to be monsters still behave like monsters and not overly sensitive cry baby emo types. I find it more appealing when a character can show their affection in as little words as possible and not be overly clingy or hang all over someone with extreme cuddliness.

Sure, I know there’s a market for the soft gushy stuff and everyone has their own opinion on this (so I hope I am not stepping on any toes here). I respect your opinion. It’s just not my cup of tea.

If you have some thoughts on this, feel free to share them with me. I would like to see what other folks think about this subject.

Welcome Melissa! I prefer to write with "just a splash" of romance too. Unfortunately, that makes me not romantic enough for some publishers. ;) Enjoy the AW community!
