So, I tend to get on TV show bandwagons pretty late. Took me into the 5th Season of Buffy and the 2nd season of Angel to get into them. I didn't start watching Charmed until after they were all out on DVD. I ended up falling in love with all shows (hence I my first novel is a vampire novel) and Sons of Anarchy is no different.

Ron Pearlman and Katey Segal are reason enough for me to love the show...but damn..everything about this show is great for only me seeing the Pilot.

Anyone else watch this show? No spoilers please, but opinions and ya know whatever can be added to thread?

Wait, are you saying that you've only seen the pilot?

I don't want to say much of anything specific until I'm sure about that.

In a general sense, I didn't start watching until about a third of the way through season two. It wasn't long before I got caught up with everything that happened before.

A solid show. I feel like the SoA have become a bit too likable. They are pretty vicious in season one, which seems more realistic than how "cute" they get in later seasons. On the other hand, the Sopranos became a tough show for me to watch exactly because the characters just became more and more disgusting with each subsequent season until it got to where I just wanted to see every single one of them (except the psychiatrist) shot, jailed, or both.

And don't get me started on The Shield. I can't even think about watching re-runs of that show.

I am very looking forward to the new season of SoA, which I think starts the first week of September.

Cheers and welcome to the forum.

I started watching sometime last season--got caught up with Netflix streaming, which is good.

The show's really good, so far at least. That's saying a bit because I don't watch much TV. I liked the ending to the last season (but won't spoil anything for anybody) and am looking forward to seeing what happens next month.

Without giving anything away to other readers, may I just say verrrrry vaguely, in the final episode, that the scene on the side of the road as the bus is approaching was just brilliant. After he offers her the joint and she refuses and then the look of sympathy on his face and compassion in his voice (knowing what is about to happen to her), when he holds the joint out to her again and says, really, you should smoke this... god, that was brilliant.

I just re-watched the second and third seasons of Deadwood. Is there anybody in that show that didn't have a role on SoA? Good grief.

Yeah just staryed wqtching the pilot on Netflix thanks to my PS3 while I wait for Rescue Me to make its way on the que since my wife is getting me watching 7th Heaven. I think this is some of Katey Segal's best work ever and of course Ron Pearlman is the man.

I can't wait to see that side of the road scene, definately has my interest. And is it just me or does the kid from Remember the Titans look more like a biker bad ass than anyone on the show? Opie I mean. And I recognize the one creepy guy from the first Bad Boys. Will Smith dropped him with an elbow strike. Nice to see his creepy looks go to good use.

The show makes me want to watch the movie Stone Cold with Brian Bosworth. Anyone else remembers that movie, much respect!

Thanks for the welcome first and foremost. And yeah had just finished the pilot last night. Going to try and watch some more today. I never got into the Shield. Not a fan of crocked law enforcement much. Although it seems interesting.

You know what show I really can't wait to come back? Breakout Kings!

I think that the problem with having "villains" as heros is that it puts them in a light so that you see all aspects of them to make them interesting. Hence; they aren't bad guys anymore but softies that hide behind tough guy personas.

I am surprised that this thread isn't more popular here at AW. I admit that I didn't watch the first couple seasons. I brushed it off. But after watching season 4, every episode, I am hooked.

Fantastic writing, acting, drama, violence, ghosts from the past, future assholes on the rise... it is a great show. It makes me want to start a MC. HA!

Can't wait for season 5! Is it really months and months away? UGH!

At least I have the Walking Dead and the new Ultimate Fighter season coming.

I love this show! I've watched all of the available eps streaming, and I'm just waiting for season 4 to come out on DVD so I can get completely caught up.

As to the scene mentioned above, it gave me chills. I knew it was coming that, but it still got to me. Brilliant scene.

I thought I would resurrect this thread in anticipation of Seasion Five starting next week.

I just got hooked into this show, and when I say hooked, I mean I watched all of Season One on Saturday and 3/4 of Season Two on Sunday. It's just so compelling. I love the multi-dimensional characters. I think that is why I love Mad Men so much--pretty much each character is involved in something that's morally repugnant at some point, and yet you can generally still like them (with a few exceptions).

I think Season Two of SoA did soften the characters and the first few episodes of Season Three have done the same. However, I've seen the last three episodes of Season Four and know that some of the characters go back to their evil ways, thus redeeming their earlier badness.

Very much looking forward to Season Five. Less than week now...

There IS a thread for this! *was about to start one*

I did this last summer. May or may not have pulled all-nighters for it too.

I have to say, this is my favorite show that's currently airing and probably #2 for all-time. Kurt Sutter and co aren't afraid of the dark places their writing goes and they never try to pull punches for the audience's comfort. I really admire the risks they take.

Although I don't know how they'll top last season. Of course, I say that at the start of every season. But this year they've added Jimmy Smitts and Harold Perrineau to the cast. And I love me a whole lot of both.

It's tonight! It's tonight! I can't wait!

I think Sutter does some amazing things with characterisation. His storyline, well, sometimes they don't give us enough backstory to build up the logic and make it believable, but I can understand why it happens. After all, he has a lot more in the way of constraints than novelists do. But the weird little side stories do so much to illuminate the characters, like the diaper one with Juice in season 1. How much did that tell us about those two characters? And, what was it, like 45 seconds long?

Can't wait, can't wait!

TONIGHT. YES. FINALLY.

The DV-R's set to record the entire season, just in case baseball interferes. (Hey. It's the Rangers. Baseball takes priority, especially now that I can record something to watch later.)

I watched all of season 4 last week while traveling. I'm so excited for season 5 tonight. And very glad I only had to wait 48 hours from the end of season 4. :)

It's already shaping up to be an intense season. I can't wait to see the Tig/Clay fallout from this one.

I love the show because it's so much like a Greek tragedy. You have these big larger-than-life heroes, and you watch them do brain-splittingly terrible/stupid/ill-advised things, but it's all just so in-character you can't look away from the trainwreck. So much TV I see manufactures conflict by making characters make stupid choices that don't make sense, but in SoA there is a sense that it couldn't have played out any other way.

That's what I mean about Sutter being great at characterisation. And wasn't Jimmy Smits about 50 types of awesome (50 Shades of Awesome?)

Spoiler squee in white text: anyone else notice that Clay is on his way to becoming Piney and Tara is starting to do all the things she accused Gemma of?
