Hi guys,

I'd like to say hello to everyone.:hi: I have signed up after a few months of just lurking around and finding every bit of information I can about agents, publishing, etc.

I have been writing stories for as long as I could remember and no one in real life really knows that I do this. I realized yesterday that I'd rather be talking to fellow writers than just browsing the forums. I do have a manuscript but it's in no way ready to be submitted to share your work yet (besides having 50 posts).

So I'd like to talk to you guys and hopefully, I'd like to critique your work. Though I don't know how serious anyone would take a newbie who hasn't posted up her own work before.

The genre I love writing in is YA. It's the genre I love to read and sometimes I' suffer from being teased by friends and family who say I'm too old to be reading from that section. :Shrug: But I'm glad to see that a lot of YA readers are older than 17. It's comforting.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and hope to be posting here for a long time.

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

at the top of Forum pages. They are your best guide to learning about
Absolute Write.

Don’t forget to read the FAQ regarding posting pictures at AW.


Members who want to start a thread in Share Your Work to have work critiqued need
50 posts. So take some time to greet fellow newbies, critique other members’
works, or join a discussion.

Welcome. Adults are most often the authors of YA, so I don't see why they shouldn't also enjoy reading it :)

I'm so glad to see that others who write YA still read it, too. There's an "Adult" in that section, that has to count for something, right?

And that's just one of the many things that are so great about YA :) it appeals to suuuuch a wide audience, age-wise.

I can't wait till you have your 50 posts and we can read what you've got! (and until I have my 50, and can jiggle my wobbly knees to SYW)

Hello! I have been hearing a lot about YA lately. I might have to pick up some books and check it out. Any ones I should be on the look out for. I read just about every genre out there. I just never ventured over to the YA section that much.

And clicking on your profile by accident made me realize I should fill mine out.

I write YA too so I hope both of us success as we partake in this journey. Although my work is finished, I am sure with passion and dedication you will finish and send out the best story you can.

I've been reading YA longer than I've been writing in it. It's just one of those genres that you can easily find something that appeals to you and then you never leave! The plots are equally as complex as adult novels.

Once I get my 50 I'll post mine, so long as i think it's been edited enough so I'd feel comfortable enough to show it. I would love to read yours, by the way!

I do like my girly books (hence my screen name) and fantasy. But some good ones that I think you might like would be Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco Stork, Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld, and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, etc. Those are from the top of my head.

I know the shelves are filled with paranormal romance but you have to look closely to find other kinds of books there. All I do when I go to that section is browse for topics that I might like.
