Can I get this party started with a question about queries?

Or rather, full manuscript submissions. I have two fulls out on review. One has been out since June the 30th, the other since July 11. My gut says leave it alone, my other gut says write each a short email to make sure full was received by agent. Which gut do I believe?

Take some time and read the Newbie Guide and the Stickies found
at the top of Forum pages. They are your best guide to learning about
Absolute Write.

Don’t forget to read the FAQ regarding posting pictures at AW.

Members who want to start a thread in Share Your Work to have work critiqued need
50 posts. So take some time to greet fellow newbies, critique other members’
works, or join a discussion.

It's too soon to ask. As hard as it is, you need to wait for at least another month or two. Good luck

So, my first gut was right

About it being too early. I am wondering how long agents usually take to respond to a full they want. Seems four to six for something they don't want . . . Is there a typical time frame for a positive response from a full?

Welcome, CatHead.

I'm a newbie here too, and as such you can give the rest of this post as much or as little weight as you want but, this doesn't seem like the place to ask questions about agents ;)

As regdog pointed out, 50 posts will get you the right to start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum.

Good luck ;)

I'm sorry Cat......but you may have to wait months to hear back. That's just how the business runs. Maybe after 3 months you could drop them an email and touch bases with them. Best wishes.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.
How do you like your popcorn?

If you go to the bottom of the page to the ‘forum jump’ you can scroll down and find all the areas of this place. Most of the SYW areas require the password of ….vista. A word to the wise, (50 posts), it would be a good idea to participate first in helping others before you think about posting your own work. After you have been around here for awhile, then post something of your own for help. Good luck.

I'd maybe start getting antsy after the 3-month mark.

Welcome. You can post just about anywhere, and you *can* start threads just about anywhere ... The only thing you need 50 posts for is posting your actual work for critiques.

You can build up your post count by greeting other newbies. Other good methods include helping critique others' work, or just jumping in on some thread that interests you.

Alessandra: I stand corrected, then. I thought you could only start new threads in here, as a newbie. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, CatHead, follow what they say and ignore me ;)

Those who have said wait three months are all people whom I, personally, would take very seriously. They know their stuff.

Welcome to AW. :)

Welcome! From everything I've learned here so far, the norm is a lot longer than the dates you gave. Give it time.s

Welcome and good luck to you. Waiting sucks... but I hear it can make you more patient.... or something
