This is partially inspired by DiloKeith's recent thread here: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221378'. Though, it's something I've been interested in for a while now.

I'm looking for publishers of gay male and lesbian erotica that's mainly by and for those groups. I'm particularly looking for gay male, but am very interested in finding publishers of lesbian erotica, too.

Off the top of my head, I know that Cleis publishes a lot of LGBT fiction, including erotica, and I think Torquere does. But I haven't found many others. Most erotica publishers I've come across seem to focus on straight erotica and M/M geared towards female readers. But I'm sure there must be something.

Well, I'm especially interested in presses that do more hard "erotica" as opposed to erotic romance, and presses that put out BDSM/kink books and stories.

It seems that almost everybody's publishing GLBT these days.

Thanks. I've found a few on there that I hadn't seen before, so thanks!

It does seem like a lot of erotica/romance publishers publish LGBT, but finding ones that are predominantly LGBT has been more difficult. Maybe it's just where I'm looking. I don't know.

^ Can you say what's going on with Alyson? I've always liked the type of books they publish.

There just aren't that many - we're still a minority. At first I was a little surprised to learn that m/m was popular with so many predominantly straight readers. In some ways, it helps, but it also means there are dozens of publishers that aren't what you're seeking.

There was a big problem with nonpayment of authors, and last fall Alyson announced they were going to stop producing print books and would be an ebook-only publisher. As far as I know, they're not accepting submissions, so who knows when and if they'll start putting out new books.

They're still not paying authors though, not even back royalties.

Perhaps: Alyson, Bold Strokes, Ultra Violet is Gay Mens Press still open?

Bold Strokes seems to take a variety of works. The minimum word count (18K) excludes the story I'm trying to get published, but their mention of erotic anthologies gave me an idea. Would it make sense to gather a few novelettes or short stories from other aspiring authors and submit an anthology? Maybe others here have shorter pieces that don't qualify for stand-alone books. We'd need a theme to tie it together, of course. Their submissions page http://www.boldstrokesbooks.com/pages.php?pageid=27

You are so on the ball! (I said ball) You should mention/link this post in the Bordello where there is more traffic and see if anyone is interested.
