Hi! On emeraldcite's suggestion, here's a new spot where we can discuss blogging.
What I'd like is for this to be a place to talk about the role of blogging, writing/formatting techniques, blogging software, news for bloggers, etc.-- NOT a "Hey, look, I started a blog! Come look!"
In other words, this is a spot to talk with other bloggers and discuss blogs, not to self-promote. Of course you can include a link to your blog in your signature, and I'll put up a sticky thread where all AWers can post a link to their own blogs, but beyond that, please don't start threads just to ask people to come visit your blog.
And with that... welcome to the new board!

Hi Jenna,
I´ve set up a blog yesterday as a compromise solution being a newcomer when it comes to try to write to attract attention. I dedicate it to AW as my story is taking many directions and being a member at this forum has helped me to encourage me and figure out this model for my "articels" I want to tell the world about. It´s very comfortable to me to work in this way regarding to the subject and now I´m incredible concerned about critiques, good or bad, opinions, advises etc, from writing collegues but I dont want to spam the board with my blog, just having serious reviews what one think if somebody happen to be interested. So by posting this reply I´m wishing for some kind of reply upon my blog mission if it´s ok with AW. As you said Jenna, I want to talk to other bloggers and discuss blogs and its role.
This is my blog (http://siljablog.blogspot.com/)
Hope to hear from other bloggers for sharing this special way of expressing oneself.
Greetings Silja

I have a Blog that I set up to keep anyone interested, updated on my books progress as it goes through the publication process and beyond. I also use it to talk about my next book.
I'm not sure how many people actually read it or not, though I can say that if I am interested in an author's work, I do like to read their BLOG. So maybe it's a good thing to have one...An author friend of mine says he has recieved numerous emails where people tell him they do read his after buying and enjoying his first novel.
I think it provides an excellent way for fans of an author or otherwise to keep up with what the author is doing and when they might expect to see the next book become available. Its a good connecting point; although I'm not sure it is necessary to include your daily routine and "Hey I drank a cup of coffee this morning..." and stuff like that--really, who cares? But it's great for posting things people might be interested in that pertain to your work--the reason they care who you are in the first place!
I'd be interested to know from other authors, if people have told you they actually keep track of your BLOG after they've bought your books?
My BLOG is found at my new author website on a BLOG link at the homepage. -- www.jamessomersonline.com (http://www.jamessomersonline.com)

I'll post my enthusiasm for Jane Hirshfield expressed in the following prose-poem:
_____________
IMMERSION
The first time I came across the American poet Jane Hirshfield(b. 1953- ) was in 2002, three years after I retired from full-time work and just after going on a disability pension. I was 58. By 2002 I had begun to slowly drop the casual and volunteer work that had replaced my full-time employment in 1999, that had allowed me to slowly make an exit from the world of external and community commitments and that had come to prevent me from devoting the kind of attention and time I wanted to writing and study.
I had already begun to study poetry more seriously in 1989 when teaching matric English Literature and by 2002 I had notes on several dozen poets. My book on the poetry of Roger White had been approved in 2002 and was soon to go online at the Juxta Publications website. In 2002 I read an interview with Hirschfield and had made a page of notes on her thoughts about and her approach to poetry. Then, this week, five years later, as I was reading these notes and organizing my interviews with poets file I was struck by some of her comments. So I photocopied several pieces from the internet about her: two interviews, two reviews of her work, a journal article, a page of her prose, several of her poems and a bio-data sheet.-Ron Price, Pioneering Over Four Epochs, 24 October 2007.
You said so many things, Jane,
which made such perfect sense
even though you came to them
by such a different road than I.
Not knowing where a poem is
going and moving into mystery
as one takes one’s life in hand,
puts it all into the poem making
life anew, from self to world,
reexperiencing, magnifying,
clarifying, savoring the journey,
its irresistible seduction, weaving
a world by language, seriousness,
silence, attention and a curious
knowing-inhabiting-staying with
what comes up from inside being.
After a lifetime, more than 60 years
of immersion in the life of the world,
I finally immerse myself in a deep
and profound silence filled with new
and wonderful configurations that
have been cast in every epoch on
the mirror of creation, embellished
with a fresh grace, an ever-varying
splendour deriving from thought.

My philosophy is that blogging is generally fun and should be liberating. Try something new; take it easy.

Heck, why am I so Forum-challenged? The above was meant to be a reply to Hopcus, not an separate thread...sigh...
