Poetry collection question..

If a poet wrote an ebook poetry collection in two volumes one with all the darker emotions, and the other with all the happier ones would it sell at all? Such as book 1: depression, hate, rage, bad friends, breakups
Book 2: love, friendship, success, happiness.

It depends on whether you already have an audience - a somewhat known name, i.e. previous publishing credits or a decent history to bounce your books off, if you will be making use of non-paying markets and paying markets to get your name out there, if you intend to do any marketing at all and if your poems are any good.

It is my experience that (while many of us are inspired by the dark emotions) most readers prefer the light, uplifting emotions. The chapbooks that I sell the most of through Middle Island Press are the outwardly happy ones, such as one titled Wee Witty Whimsies - my best-seller. People crave that "light stuff" in troubled times.
