I basically need someone to tell me if this seems too gimmicky.
My MS is written in first person and there's a lot going on in the background that my character isn't aware of.
I wanted to stick in a few emails/letters between my some antagonists (without revealing who they are) to give the reader a vague idea of what's going on behind the scenes. It will basically hint at things in a way that won't make much sense until they get to the end, but could pacify people who don't like to be kept in the dark for too long.
I know this is done in middle grade, but for an older YA, is it very gimmicky?
I guess it's sort of a way to jump out of first person for a little. I wanted to put maybe 3 or 4.
thoughts?
