I was a third into a ms, revising and adding citations, when I realised I was using an older version! So I have one older document which has undergone a new revision a third of the way, and a more recent document which has been revised for the next 2/3s.
I only realised my mistake when I came upon a passage which I KNEW I had deleted.
I've looked up how to compare documents and think I've got it, and will start going through them both tomorrow.
Is there anything special I need to know? Any tips? What about this feature, "merging documents"? Would that make sense for me?
