Cameras at Concerts

I'm going to be at the U2 concert this Sunday night at Busch Stadium in St Louis. I'm thinking about taking my Kodak 5.0 mega pixel 10x optical zoom (not a digital SLR, no detachable zoom lens, etc) to get some good shots. It's been a few years since I've been to a concert and I'm trying to figure out if security will let this camera in. Thoughts?

It's not only the venue but the artist who sets how strict they are about cameras. Our favorite concert place has different rules about cameras (and dancing in aisles, when they stop serving alcohol, and more) depending on who's playing.

I've seen policies relaxing somewhat as performing arts venues accept the reality that everybody's phone takes pictures. Pictures are going to be taken, so why not just let cameras in?

Still, check the venue's website and if it says something like "no cameras, strictly enforced," they mean it.

Maryn, knowing they don't check large purses or the pockets of cargo shorts very closely

LOL....I ended up finding info on it. They allowed small cameras, but none with detachable lenses. I thought mine was still a bit too heavy duty, so ended up taking my daughter's 'okay' digital cam.....only to end up sitting next to a guy with a killer digital SLR who got some great shots.

Next time!

You might be able to find concert photos from the one you attended online--maybe even the ones the guy with the good camera took.

How was the show? Who'd you see?

Saw U2 at Busch Stadium (St Louis,MO), Maryn. Pretty cool venue with about 55,000 in attendance. Yeah, I've been looking at the local newspaper for some shots, but they also announced before the concert that it was being filmed. I'm hoping they'll end up creating a DVD of the concert :)
