Pick Me!

Okay so this is yet another title dilemma. My lucky letter is "D". There's a personal message behind it.

So far my novels have been:

Dreaming a Reality
Demon Girl
Deep in the Meadows (YA)
Disconnected (YA)

And now my 5th one which is YA also and I'm currently working on. I have 4 different title choices for it, which one would you pick up at the bookstore?

Dare Me
Dark Summer
Deadly Summer
Danny, Don't

I prefer the top three over the last one. My reasoning? We do not know who Danny is yet when we are standing there going through the shelves at the local bookstore. At the same time, though, J.K. Rowling did fine naming her books "Harry Potter and..." so that is not a finite rule of thumb, either.

The title, the back blurb and taking a peek inside at someone's writing all usually tie together when I buy a book (locally, or on Amazon, or whatever). A title that is cool will help, but that cool title needs to match up with the book it is representing.

Agreed. Definitely don't like Danny, don't.

Maybe Dare Me, but it's hard to know without knowing what the book is about.

The other two I don't mind but they don't seem all that original.

honestly, the cover art is what will make me pick up a book and look at it. Then I'll read the title and if the two seem interesting enough together, I'll read the back of the book blurb.

Of the four I like Dark Summer best, but I agree with the other posts that none of them really stand out. Cover art would help a bit too I imagine.

Congrats on already having four published - is it usual to get to pick your titles from the beginning?

I like Dare Me. I read a bit of it in the SYW Lab. I like the concept.

Dare Me sounds good, but go back and see if you can think of something better before settling on one title. That's what I do, and usually I can come up with something better than what I had before =)

Dare Me gets my vote, especially if it's accompanied by some really dark, suggestive cover art. But that's just me. I love title's that make you think, instead of giving a hint about what the book's about - isn't that what the jacket's for??
Dare Me makes me think of truth or dare, of somebody confidently lifting their chin and saying go on, I can take it.

Dare Me is the best. And for the record, I would pick up a book called Danny, Don't. But I don't think that has anything to do with its quality as a title
