Hi! I'm new to the boards and new to this particular forum. I absolutely adore the Western genre, so hopefully you will see more of me around here. I'm in the process of writing my first novel, which happens to be a Western. Just wanted to drop by and say hey y'all!

Hey back. Hang around, read a lot, post a lot. We are a small board, and somewhat quiet, but we all love our westerns. My very first post was on this board.

Hi Texas Girl - Yes, welcome. This is one of the quieter spots, but we do have some decent idea exchanges.

Be sure to also check out Western Share Your Work - accessible through Share Your Work two groups down from here. You can't post anything of your own there until you have 50 posts, but you most certainly can read and comment on pieces other people have posted - and that helps you get to know the western writers better and vice versa.

Glad to see you say hi. Puma

We are all glad to have you aboard. I am relatively new here as well, but I have noticed we all play together nicely, much better than some of the other forums at times. Good luck with your novel. We need to come up with new ways to promote the genre to keep it alive. The West was such a fun era to visit in books and movies, and was a wholly unique cultural setting found nowhere in the world but the U.S. It shaped our nation in ways people don't realize or appreciate. We need to keep it alive in the minds of future generations.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I totally agree jdm, the old west was a fascinating, pivotal and colorful place, one that is nowadays (for the most part) underrated.
