I'd like a counter for my site. Can anyone recommend a free one that's invisible that gives quite detailed info about visitors? Or will I have to pay? Thanks

I don't care for Google Analytics. They don't give enough info about where the visitors originate from. No IPs.

Yeah . . . you know what? I've just figured out why you're asking.

I'm not a fan of malicious bloggers.

Also? IP numbers aren't really as useful as amateurs think they are.

I'm afraid you've lost me. I don't have a blog. I have a website. And the reason IPs are useful, is that they define the geographical location of the visitor. The only way, however, to find out their identity would be through their ISP. And ISPs (generally) will not divulge that information except via a court order. But as I have no wish to know who they are, but rather where they hail from, that's beside the point.

Have a wonderful day.

Well I have a blog, but I don't think I'm "malicious." :) I also don't care for Google Analytics. The info is spotty at best. I'd suggest GoStats or StatsCounter. Although the latter only allows free accounts a small log.

First: IPs are in blocks, and they rotate unless you pay a fairly hefty extra fee for a static IP.

Secondly: Google Analytics will in fact not only give you the IP of a visitor, it will actually parse the IP and resolve the host.

I have Analytics, but I can't see any such option. It does display the ISPs, but unless you want to do a Google search on each one, you have no way of knowing their location. And the location of my visitors is what I need, in order to know which areas the advertising is doing the most good, etc.
