Screenwriting Partner

Hey all,

I was about to re-start the whole thinking process again for my next script, and I figured this time around it would be nice to collaborate with someone. Right now I'm thinking horror/thriller, but that's up to change if you think you've got a more concrete idea. We'd be pretty much starting this from the ground up which is the way I prefer when collaborating. I would seriously say:

Don't.

I've never seen a screenwriting partnership that didn't end in disaster. There are obviously occasional exceptions to that rule who do get their movies made, but the normal result is that one person wants the credit without doing the work or wants a very different movie to the other, the other doesn't want to drag them along or change everything to suit them, they split up and have a script that they can't sell because the ownership is unclear.

I've never worked officially with a partner but my friends and I discuss projects together and I will tell them two seperate ideas for a scene then get feedback. Or most of my friends come to me with scripts and I'll add scenes to spice things up or edit dialogue to fit the story. I usually act more like a ghostwriter than anything else. Editing and tightening the script or simply adding a hook or good ending.

I'd be interested in working with a partner on some horror scripts but I've never found some one who fit with my style and wanted to write horror too.
