YA authors tweeting in character?

After finally getting on the twitter bus, I decided the other day to start tweeting "in character." I made an account for the protagonist of my WIP and plan to tweet once a day or so. I'm doing it for a few reasons:

- Fun!
- Brainstorming - easy, short way to get "in character" for writing and get the juices flowing.
- Potential way to build fan base? Since I have no credits to my name I doubt this is going to work, but whatever.

My question is: Anyone else doing this? Do you know of anyone doing it in YA? Or is anyone here interested in joining me? I don't want to have my character just "follow" everyone in the universe, as he's not going to interact much, but I think it would be appropriate and fun to follow other characters.

If anyone else wants to do this, post a link to your character here! Maybe we can form a little group.

Mine's @WakeTruong (hopefully I did that right).

I think it's a cool idea! I'll follow you—I mean, Wake.

I'd do one for my character, but considering she lives twenty years after global apocalypse, I'm thinking they wouldn't have Twitter.

Mine live 200 years after the apocalypse and I'm debating giving them facebook pages. LOL

I think I will join this. I have an artist working on some character sketches for me, and once he gets them back I'll set them up on twitter. I don't want them not to have profile pics.

I think it can be fun. I've participated in a few games where I've played my characters and interacted with other people's characters and their differing worlds. Tweeting could be just as cool

You should do it! I don't think it necessarily has to be in context, technologically. I read a while back about an author doing tweets from the POV of something like a Regency romance heroine. It's more like a running mental commentary.

Ooh, tweeting in character does sound fun! A much better way of getting in character than a Facebook page, I think (then again, I loathe FB and am a twitter addict, so...). I wish I could do this, but twitter's way too addictive to me... but a good idea!

Interesting idea, I bet it's a lot of fun for some people

Me, personally, my characters are more like tools than real live people, so, meh... wouldn't really do it for me.

I've seen Cassandra Clare and Sarah Rees Brennan post as their characters (for special events/games/fanservice) on their twitters. (ie: they'll do things like "Nick: (insert dialogue here)") However, I haven't seen any YA writer do it full-blown (ie: make a twitter esp for the protagonist)...but this sounds like an awesome/fun idea. I'll join in and post the link when I'm done configuring everything.
