Okay...I searched the forum and couldn't find a thread that matched my particular insanity for the moment.

Here's my issue :

I write on a mac and use iWork. I love it!!!! But...(yes, a but) Often times most places that want submissions want them in a .doc format.
With pages you can export to word and have that handy-dandy file all ready to go...WITHOUT YOUR HEADERS!!!!

I'm starting to go slightly mental from the effort of trying to format correctly and have it save with all the goodies.

Can anyone help me? I'm begging for a tech guru to point the way down the happy path where documents have headers and proper page breaks and candy and sunshine and kisses!

There has to be a way to do this. And all snarks about using a pc instead can be checked at the door, TYVM.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.

I'm not quite sure what to tell you, because I use Pages 09 and when I do Share->Export... and choose Word .doc, my headers come out just fine. I am, however, opening the .doc in LibreOffice, because I don't have Word.

You should probably just use a PC instead. :)

Have you tried the old standby export to html first?

Foinah, what version of Pages and what version of Word?

I don't have any problem with exporting files with headers from Pages to Word.

Also--how are you entering Headers in Pages? Do your Headers show in the Layout Inspector?

Okay...I am using iwork '09, headers are in the layout, word 2007 (I think...meh)...

But I downloaded openoffice and it seems to have solved my dilemma. I export the .pages as a.doc and then open it with openoffice and it's all good.

Thank you for helping this monkey evolve! You guys are the best (and I'll send photos once my hair grows back in from yanking it out earlier ;-) )
