I wrote this once and now it's gone, so I'll write it again. I'm having trouble finding a genre to categorize my manuscript. At first I called it a mystery caper but a mystery is about what has happened in the past (solving a crime). Then I called it a thriller, but my wife told me it's not a thriller because there is humor in it and thrillers tend to be more serious. This is about a MC who witnesses a crime and is asked to do some snooping to find some answers. In the process he uncovers too much and puts himself in danger of being killed. He resolves the situation by implementing a sting operation to expose the bad guy. It's along the lines of Gregory Macdonald's Fletch . . . or Carl Hiaasen's work. What would you call this? A caper novel? Just eliminate the word "mystery" and call it a plain caper novel? I appreciate any help you can give me here. Thanks.

Umgowa: It was moved to the Mystery/Suspence/Thriller forum. Go to your profile and click on "threads started by me" if you can't find it.

Hmm....This brings up a point. Is there any notification that a thread/posts have been moved? I know the mods don't need anything more to do, but I've had posts moved and it took me a while to find them.

Ah, that was my mistake, Chris...I clicked the wrong button when I moved the thread, and so I didn't leave a redirect, which I normally do. In the future, when a thread disappears, try contacting a forum mod, and they can probably let you know what happened.

Here's a link to the thread in question:http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212176

Closing this now. :)
