I have been lurking around the water cooler for a couple of months and liked what I saw there and decided to join.

I have been writing since before most of you were born

and sold a few articles and short stories in the 60s. Then life got in the way. Started seriously writing again about 25 years ago. Garden articles sold well but I discovered there were no longer markets for fiction in the general magazines.

I enjoy critiquing and being critted and hoped to do the same here but all I can find are snippets of pieces posted. Am I not looking in the right place?

Most of my writing is historical, A trilogy set in the American Revolution -1812-14 war period and the one I'm working on now 1930-55 in rural Ontario.

Thanks for the welcome. I did look there, but as I said, only snippets seem to be posted. I would like crits on a whole short story or novel chapter. I don't think a partial indicates the construction or the flow . That is what I am looking for as I think my grammar and sentence structure are adequate.

I'm new too, and I certainly understand what you're saying about life getting in the way! I was determined to start freelancing 15 years ago and then children happened...I'm only just starting to feel like I am becoming myself again.

Historian, the link below from A Watkins is ok. It is the right place - just select an appropriate forum and create a new thread then post your piece - if it's really in the wrong place - which I doubt - a kindly MOD may switch it and tell you. I think the password is only needed once to get you in - I never use it.
