Hi! My name is Adam (lovingly called Peach by most of my friends). I'm 23 and I concider myself a novice writer who has the ability to randomly spurt out beauty, elegance, and passion onto pages. The images are in my head, but the words rarely come as well as I'd like.
Up until recently I co-GMed a online collaborative online novel in roleplay form at SoG. Interest waned in the project for various reasons and it died a few months ago, but we did succeed in getting a lot accomplished. Much of the fun stuff is not archived, sadly.
I recently recieved my degree in Computer Systems and am still looking for a job. In my spare time I'm writing an web-based collaborative novel writing software with roleplay roots. Emphasis on novel writing. Think of a hideous combination of a standard MUD and a forum with character profiles, joint posting abilities, and an interactive map!
I would like to become a better writer and I've already made some good headway. Someone once told me it takes at least 10 years to become remotely proficient at anything. I'm at year 4 of taking my writing seriously - won't you come be my friend?

Welcome to AW Adam.

:hi:

Trust me, you'll find more friends at AW than you know what to do with. We're lots of fun though, and many of these people are actually insightful and knowledgeable (I'm not one of them).

Behind you!
Can you handle one more welcome, Peach? Heck, you're young and strong--sure you can! You may live to regret telling us you know computers--that's why I'm starting my sucking up early.

I suppose it's how hard to work to improve your craft during those ten years that determines your mastery. The figure I hear tossed out isn't time but word count. 'They' say by the time you've written a million words, you're probably as good as you're going to get. (Which means I'm definitely a long shot.)

Maryn, glad to meet you

Thanks for the great welcome, everyone :)
And Maryn, of course I'll help with some computer related stuffs. I'm versed in Windows, *nix, but inifintely moreso in OS X. Simply PM me if you need anything...and I'll do my best. :hooray:

well, my activities will have to be halted for now and just as I started to enjoy stuff. I'm being sent off to Baton Rouge by the Red Cross so I'm going to be out for the next 3 weeks.
I'll be back...with experiences to share!!

Welcome, Adam! I performed with a children's theatre troupe when I was a child, and wer performed a play-version of the children's book, James and the Giant Peach. A few friends who were there call me "The Giant Peach" to this day, and I only played a few minor parts!

Be safe while you're in Baton Rouge. We look forward to hearing from you when you get back!
